Melendez/Cassutt Unanimously Re-ElectedSo Say We All

melendez_brian.jpgThe DFL State Central Committee dispensed with the thirty minute Q/A by suspending the rules, then unanimously voted to re-elect Brian Melendez and Donna Cassutt as State Chair and Associate Chair, respectively, of the DFL.

Melendez and Cassutt ran unchallenged, indeed, only one State Officer faced a challenge. The DFL Affirmative Action officer, Megan Thomas, is being challenged but sources tell me she’ll be re-elected without much trouble after the Q/A.

I think it’s safe to say that the DFL is on the right course. Having won most everything last cycle, in my opinion, our State Officers earned another term and then some.

  • You are sick and evil.
You need to find out about Jesus. He does forgive and will forgive you if you ask him into your heart. I feel the devil oosing from your site.

  • Now I understand…you were unchallenged in your run for office.

  • Ronda obviously does not know Brian. Brian does very well in the path of good. There are many faith based, spiritually based and ethically based people in the DFL, walking the talk, doing the work. The DFL is the party working for the common good.

  • Was it Will Rogers who said, “Im not part of any organized political party. I’m a Democrat.”

In my opinion, this democratic rough and tumble is working out extremely well for the Democrats. While the Republicans isolate themselves more and more as the party of rich, intolerant war-mongers, Democrats seem to be working and playing quite nicely together.

The CD 5 convention, which started out with over a dozen candidates for the U.S. House seat, was one example. The competing campaigns had an ongoing lovefest during the senate district conventions. And, while competition for the endorsement was quite intense, we all (well, almost all) came together to back Ellison. Right through the primary to the general election, you could see avid volunteers for Ellison who had started out in other campaigns. And Keith won by a large margin, despite some severe nastiness from the Republicans and some big betrayals from the Sabo/Erlandson/Lee camp.

The reelection of Brian and Donna, of course, provided no such high drama. They had done extremely well, and the party united behind them in warm appreciation, asking them to continue doing a job well done.
