Oh Michael…

Michael Brodkorb claims that I “asked for more post [sic] exposing Senator Amy Klobuchar.”

The intention of my post was to point out Brodkorb’s obsession with Mark Ritchie, not to ask for more ridiculous hyperventilating posts about anyone. That being said, if Michael Brodkorb, a former Mark Kennedy consultant, wants to continue to attack Amy Klobuchar with the same absurd vitriol that characterized Kennedy’s Senate campaign, perhaps Klobuchar will win by 40 points next time around. I thought Minnesotans were pretty clear in the last election. They’ll take Amy’s positive, issue oriented campaign over the mudslinging grudge warfare that Brodkorb practices everyday of the week and twice on Tuesdays.

Amy Klobuchar ran a safe and boring campaign. However, she had an opponent who had a very poor press operation.

    Safe & boring?
Klobuchar was spirited & took on issues in a very classic Minnesotan way.

Seems as though it resonated quite well with the voters’ sensibilities & wishes.

Her campaign did not have to rely on the tactics that the Kennedy camp has employed against Patty Wetterling & others.

What in the world would anyone expect - cliff diving? This is not the fake wrestling channel.

What was “safe and boring” about Amy’s campaign is that she stayed absolutely focused on her message and on the goal of being elected. She didn’t allow herself to get sucked in to the Republican snark vortex and didn’t screw herself into the ground trashing Mark Kennedy. I call that impressive and looks suspiciously like integrity. Been a long time since we’ve seen much of that — like since Paul Wellstone died.

I had first met Amy Klobuchar in May of 2004 at her room party in Duluth the first night of the State Convention. We talked for the longest time about a lot of stuff. That was where I also met John Bessler, Amy’s husband.

It was a pleasure to know Amy Klobuchar better much of 2006 as well as her in-laws. Her father,Jim, is a man of Principle and a decent man. I had a good visit with him at the State Convention last June where we were both Delegates along with seeing him whenever he was in Rochester for Amy and in the cities.

At the last of the Senate debates, Amy held her ground while Mark Kennedy went on the attack on her character, rather than stick to the issues. He acted the total ass and was booed by the audience. Which is why I am glad that Amy is in the US Senate and not Mark Kennedy.

The current US attorney scandal is showing that the national Republican party is very interested in voting issues. So it is no surprise that the Minnesota Republicans have great interest in the Secretary of State office.

One of the things which astounded me about the Florida mess in 2000 was that the Secretary of State for Florida, the person charged with impartially administering the voting, was co-chair of the Bush-Cheney campaign. That just seemed like an immense conflict of interest. Yet IIRC Mary Kiffmeyer held a similar post with the Minnesota arm of the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004.
