T-Paw Doesn’t Want To Be VP

Tom Scheck has the quote from the Guv’s media availability today…

For the 900th time, I am not running for Vice President. I don’t want to be Vice President and I’m focused on being governor of the state of Minnesota and have said I will fill out my term

I suppose that’s an easy thing to say with John McCain’s political fortunes plummeting.

  • Then why go to Vermont or Iowa in March? Been there, done that, you can buy corn and maple syrup here, no need to travel……

I can’t say that the two are ideological clones, so it leaves a lot of questions. The Gov. is young, articulate, smart, charismatic, and obviously wanting to move up the political food chain. He should honest about your motives, I admire people who want to move ahead, and so do a lot of voters. I don’t think the next election will be good for the GOP, Bush fatigue will settle in the same way that Clinton fatigue did in Gore. Coattails will be non-existant. T-Paw would be best suited to not raise the profile too much. The elections in 2010 and beyond will offer lots of opportunities for people outside the beltway.

  • Yeah - its a sly trick to shut down the talk.
    He didn’t exactly say,

“if nominated, I will not run, if drafted…”

  • Pawlenty is a really weird V.P. choice for a floundering presidential candidate who is strongly in favor of the Iraq war. When Pawlenty went to Bagdad he posed for photos wearing a SPAM t-shirt - the guy’s no statesman - he’s a frat boy. A frat boy..who is apparently on a grunge bent. Seems the guy isn’t into basic infrastructure upkeep…let thos roads decay, let the State capitol fall apart, just stick in a chain link fence in front of the Transportation Building…why actually fix the facade..let it crumble. This isn’t responsible leadership it’s decadence.

  • Here’s the fun of Pawlenty
