Walz Raises $325K in Q2

Straight from the campaign:

(Mankato, MN) - Today, Congressman Tim Walz announced that he has raised more than a half million dollars for his re-election. Walz, a freshman who upset incumbent Congressman Gil Gutknecht in 2006, ends the second quarter with $482,413 cash on hand.

“I’m humbled by the support I’ve received since taking office in January. These numbers demonstrate that Minnesotans continue to support the change they demanded in November,” said Walz.

“In total, supporters and the organizations they belong to have contributed just over $565,000 to my campaign this cycle,” continued Walz. “I truly appreciate the outpouring of support and I hope to continue working for the voters of southern Minnesota for a long time to come.”

Since the start of the 2008 election cycle, Walz has raised a total of $565,295.

Any Republican that thinks they stand a chance against Walz in ‘08 is totally delusional. Clearly it won’t be a walk in the park, but Walz is an amazing man who fits his district uncannily well. Anyone care to disagree?

GOP Chairman Ron Carey would disagree wholeheartedly. He was so bold and arrogant as usual to make this statement about Tim in part from an article from the Post-Bulliten uesterday regarding both the Stte DFL and GOP Conventions being held in Rochester in 2008….. http://postbulletin.com/newsmanager/templates/localnews_story.asp?a=300487&z=2

The other goal, Carey said, is to defeat DFL Rep. Tim Walz, who “has been masquerading as a mainstream Minnesotan when he’s actually voting for the San Francisco values” of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”

Let’s see here! Tim Walz voted to have more police on the streets, Stricter Clean Air and Clean Water standards, raise the Minimum Wage, better Health Care and Services for Veterans, higher pay and assistance for Military families, lower College loan payments, allow workers to organize at their workplace without intimidation, for balancing the budget as some of the Bush Tax Cuts are set to expire by 2012, voted against Human Cloning, voted for Stem Cell research with Ethical boundaries, voted for Medicare to negotiate lower Drug costs for Seniors, and voted to support a timetable for gradual withdrawl of troops from Iraq, etc. His only contreversial vote was for Iraq funding through September.

Tim Walz has voted the way he said he would vote when he ran for Congress. Since taking office, Tim Walz has held more public meetings in 6 months than Gil Gutknecht did in 12 years. Tim is one of the most visible and acessible Congressmen the 1st has had in as many years. If these are what “San Francisco Values” are, then I want to stay aboard that boat. Tim will be serving the 1st for many years to come.

Ron Carey can say anything he wants about Walz. That will not get his candidates elected. The voters in the 1st are keeping an eye on Tim and so far liking what they are seeing. His fundraising numbers are going to increase as the months go by due in part of the good work he is doing. He is transparent, ethical, and honest with constituents. Tim is what we in the 1st CD have needed for a long time. .

Well, GOP Chairman Carey is simply wrong then. If the grassroots campaign is anything like it was in ‘06, the GOP doesn’t stand a chance in the 1st. Walz had literally hundreds of volunteers working for him, while the GOP couldn’t even get it together enough to do any decent doorknocking, and the situation doesn’t seem to be changing.

$8000.00 more than Michelle B., very impressive! More money means more of the same and the two freshman(woman) are part of a Congress with a 24 percent approval rating. Looking forward to the future with Clinton 40whatever…

Regardig fundraising, it is the people who are donating the money to Tim Walz, not Coorporate PACs, as with the case of Michelle Bachmann.

Bachmann’s fundraising totals so far show very little monies actually coming from 6th CD voters themselves. If this trend continues, she will have a tough time amongst the field of voters, other than her main Religious Conservative base in 2008. I read she has yet to hold any Public Meetings, Meets and Greets since taking ofice, or answer to the people of the 6th CD for the votes she has casted that have been against their particular needs.

Tim Walz is indeed awesome and doing a hell of a job for the people in the 1st CD. He puts Bachmann and Kline to shame.

Michelle doesn’t have time for fluff such as Meets and Greets, public meetings, answering constituents, etc. I think she’s too busy at home kissing her autographed picture of Georgie Boy. (OK, I apologize for that but it’s Monday morning and she’s just such an easy target.)

    Tom A.

The DEMOCRATIC congressional caucus has closer to 40% approval. The REPUBLICAN congressional caucus is around 20%

I love how republicans like to use half (more like a third) of the facts to make a point. Jas
