Coleman-Bush Visit One Week Away | Strib Reports

ColemanbushFrom the Star Tribune:

The Aug. 21 fundraiser, at the home of Twin Cities philanthropists Bill and Tani Austin, will cost at least $1,000 to attend. For $10,000 in combined contributions to Coleman and the Republican Party, a couple will be listed as a co-host. For $14,600, they can be a host. Last year, Bush pulled in $500,000 in support of Rep. Michele Bachmann and close to $1 million in 2005 for Senate candidate Mark Kennedy.

The Austins have donated more than $100,000 to Republican causes. Bill Austin has already shelled out $7,300 to previous Coleman campaigns and about $10,000 to Kennedy.

And, yes, we’ve been posting sporadically so far this week. Things will pick back up soon.

And Norm will tell George, “I wish I could quit you.”

This is, actually, smarter than Mark Kennedy’s strategy of pretending he never heard of Bush. Coleman knows that the best hit the DFL has on him is that he is a political chameleon. He has Bush raise money for him so he can beat Franken in the next fund raising quarter, and he does it early enough so that it’s not in anyone’s consciousness when November ‘08 rolls around.

The man’s a bastard, but no one is working harder to keep his job than him.

normy will be so firmly tied to Bush’s coattails, it will be impossible to seperate the two. Paul Wellstone’s Senate seat will almost certainly go back to the DFL along with 5 to 7 other seats going to the Democratic party. Bush and company have effectively castrated the GOP for a generation.

    This shows two things:
    1) Coleman can’t get enough support from Minnesota GOP to raise money without the appeal of a presidential dinner.
    2) Norm is blind to problems of the Bush administration and despite what he says in the future is tied to Bush policy.
I have to agree with Richard. Coleman doesn’t have much of chance. The question now is: who has a better chance of beating him, Al Franken or Mike Ciresi?

Say, where do Bill and Tami live? A lot of folks would probably like to drop by to pay their respects.

Yes, I’d love to stop by and show my support for the great work Bill and Tami do! Stand up citizens they are!
