Ellison Launches Spiffy new Campaign Site

Keith is launching his new campaign site today and the thing looks pretty dang nice. Sure, it’s not really hard news but, hey, a new website is something worth looking at. And, hey, while your there why not put in a donation? Just a suggestion…

Why not? Because I only have so much money to donate to candidates, and Keith Ellison can’t lose?

The site looks great. I wish more politicians (especially state house/senate) would invest more in their web sites. It is a web 2.0 world and too many sites look like they were built in 1996.

Four pictures on the front page and in everyone he has a microphone in his hand. Does this guy like to talk or what?

WHY? What’s the big deal, it’s not like it will help him get votes or anything. He’s got the seat as long as nobody catches him in bed with a dead woman or a live boy. Why bother with it…

“seat as long as nobody catches him in bed with a dead woman or a live boy. ”

    Well that won’t happen - after all, he’s not a Republican. Haha - it’s a joke - don’t blast me.

Why wouldn’t it help him get votes? or raise money?

Yes, it’s a safe seat for the DFL, but that doens’t mean Keith is going to sit on his butt during the election. If he drives up turnout in his district, it could impact the state-wide race significantly. He’s also in a position to raise money for other, more vulnerable candidates.

This also tells me that Keith takes his re-election seriously, isn’t taking it for granted, and is prepared should someone decide to try a primary challenge. That’s all to the good.

Either that or he could use his safe seat like Lisa Goodman (Minneapolis city council woman) does and raise money for the party by pretending it is for his own reelection. Goodman does a great job of that by “expediting” the “regulatory” needs of her “friends” in the city in exchange for their “gifts” to a campaign that uses almost no money. Those safe seats in highly partisan areas can be gold mines for the party if the candidate knows how to work it.

Thanks for the tip! You find the darndest stuff on spiffy new leftist websites….for instance, here is how Keith X closed a sermon he gave at St. Joan of Arc “Catholic” church:

“I WANT TO CLOSE WITH THESE WORDS FROM Mark Morford, San Francisco Chronicle columnist”

    Ruh Roh……

    This stuff just writes itself!

I respect the views of liberal Minnesotans, I don’t agree with them, but I respect them.

What I don’t understand is how the DFL can elect someone with a personal and political history like Keith Ellison, and then turn around and bitch about a “partisan divide” or label GW Bush as “the most polarizing President in American history.”

I’m not excusing Bush by any means, but Ellsion has a checkered personal history regarding his race and religion. The man has used his race as a method to intimidate superiors and subordinates since the days when he interviewed to become an intern at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s office.

I know this because I have witnessed it.

I’ll give credit where credit is due: Ellision has made a pretty good career for himself. I can’t say he has worked hard to get it, but nevertheless, he got it.

The point was made earlier that Ellison is safe and should utilize this website as a tool to raise money and help out DFL candidates. Absolutely he should, that’s what responsible candidates should do — help their party.

Ellison is a made man. Unless he gets greedy, or his ambition exceeds his capabilities, he could be in congress forever.

The voters of Mpls won’t allow him to do anything otherwise.

“Stop thinking this is all there is… Realize that for every on-going war and religious outrage and environmental devastation and bogus Iraqi attack plan, there are a thousand counter-balancing acts of staggering generosity and humanity and art and beauty happening all over the world, right now, on a breathtaking scale, from flower box to cathedral…. Resist the temptation to drown in fatalism, to shake your head and sigh and just throw in the karmic towel…. Realize that this is the perfect moment to change the energy of the world, to step right up and crank your personal volume; right when it all seems dark and bitter and offensive and acrimonious and conflicted and bilious… there’s your opening. Remember magic. And, finally, believe you are a part of a groundswell, a resistance, a seemingly small but actually very, very large impending karmic overhaul, a great shift, the beginning of something important and potent and unstoppable.”

  11. 11 11 Richard

Yes, I can see the huge problem Catholics would have with that. The whole “don’t drown in fatalism” thing really must’ve had them squirming. Tom, you so nailed it.

  12. 12 12 Ioannes Magnumus

Keith (who used to be a Roman Catholic) spoke at St. Joan’s? What’s next? Pawlenty (who used to be a Roman Catholic) speaking at the Scientogy Church?

None of it matters… A man (or a woman) and their relationships with others or institutions mean nothing. Unless of course their association is being done to screw someone else.

I went to your webpage, Yawn. I want my two minutes back.

  16. 16 16 Richard

C’mon Ioannes, you’re being a little hard on Tom. For someone with the obvious learning disabilities and mental defects that Tom is suffering from, he’s done a remarkable job. Some of his sentences are nearly coherant. With more help from trained doctors, especially those with experience working with chimps, he should make enough progress to actually pen something cogent. It’s a high bar and an ambitious goal but I’m sure Tom can do it.

Swiftee, can you ever discuss Congressman Ellison without dipping into bigoted smears? I’m just curious. Come on, challenge yourself!

GOP Optimist, I’m confused as to why you would say that Keith Ellison hasn’t worked to earn what he’s gotten. As long as I’ve known him, he’s always worked incredibly hard at whatever he’s taken on. So your comment seems to be suggesting something more sinister. Are you claiming that Congressman Ellison is nothing more than an Affirmative Action case? Because that’s about as insulting as it gets, and I don’t think you get to say you respect the opinions of liberal Minnesotans if you bring that kind of crap to the table.

It’s a shame people can’t see past race & religion as well as the Congressman from the 5th does…

I might be naive, but is Ellison really that safe from a primary challenge someday? I know primary challenges don’t occur often in this state, but they aren’t all that uncommon nationwide, especially for a relatively new (1st 2-3 terms) Congressperson.

On the right, I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bachman gets a legit primary challenge the next couple elections.

Did I read that right (on your blog)? You’re leaving the Catholic Church? May I suggest the Moonies, Rev. Moon is a big supporter of Pres. Bush.

  20. 20 20 Richard

Blogger, Bachmann will be done in ‘08. Even the most staunch conservatives in the 6th are embarassed by the freakshow that is Michele Bachmann.
