I might be naive, but is Ellison really that safe from a primary challenge someday? I know primary challenges don’t occur often in this state, but they aren’t all that uncommon nationwide, especially for a relatively new (1st 2-3 terms) Congressperson.

On the right, I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bachman gets a legit primary challenge the next couple elections.

Swiftee, can you ever discuss Congressman Ellison without dipping into bigoted smears? I’m just curious. Come on, challenge yourself!

GOP Optimist, I’m confused as to why you would say that Keith Ellison hasn’t worked to earn what he’s gotten. As long as I’ve known him, he’s always worked incredibly hard at whatever he’s taken on. So your comment seems to be suggesting something more sinister. Are you claiming that Congressman Ellison is nothing more than an Affirmative Action case? Because that’s about as insulting as it gets, and I don’t think you get to say you respect the opinions of liberal Minnesotans if you bring that kind of crap to the table.

It’s a shame people can’t see past race & religion as well as the Congressman from the 5th does…

C’mon Ioannes, you’re being a little hard on Tom. For someone with the obvious learning disabilities and mental defects that Tom is suffering from, he’s done a remarkable job. Some of his sentences are nearly coherant. With more help from trained doctors, especially those with experience working with chimps, he should make enough progress to actually pen something cogent. It’s a high bar and an ambitious goal but I’m sure Tom can do it.
