The Bonoff for Congress campaign has officially announced raising $88,500 in the ten days between her announcement and the end of the filing period for the 3rd Quarter. Regular readers of this blog will remember that we broke this news several days ago.
Needless to say, this is an impressive showing for a candidate that has been in a race for only 10 days and got into it only after an unforeseeable event: Congressman Ramstad retiring. Moreover, the field was still wide open for pretty much all of those 10 days. If Senator Bonoff can raise this much under those circumstances, I think Republicans will have a rude awakening after Q4 numbers are filed. But, before I get too ahead of myself, let’s just wait and see what Paulsen releases, if anything…
For those of you that have had your head in the ground for the last couple weeks, State Senator Terri Bonoff is currently the only declared DFLer running for Republican Jim Ramstad’s soon to be vacated 3rd Congressional seat. The full Press Release accompanying Bonoff’s numbers is below the jump.

Terri Bonoff for Congress Totals $88,500 in First Ten Days of Campaign Impressive Campaign Launch
Friday, October 12, 2007
MINNETONKA - Today, Ken Sanguin, campaign manager for Bonoff for Congress, announced the campaign reported $88,500 in total receipts for the third fundraising quarter, ending September 30, 2007. Senator Bonoff (Plymouth, Minnetonka and Medicine Lake) made the decision to run for the Third Congressional District seat on Friday, September 21st, therefore raising the $88,500 in just the last ten days of September.
The $88,500 total came from over 130 individual supporters who contributed to the campaign, most of whom are residents of Minnesota’s Third Congressional District.
“This early outpouring of support demonstrates the excitement generated by Terri’s recent entry into the race,” said Sanguin. “As a life-long resident of this district, Senator Bonoff has built a solid base of support that is energized and ready to do the hard work necessary to win.” Sanguin, Deputy campaign manager for Senator Amy Klobuchar’s successful campaign last year, joined the Bonoff for Congress campaign this week.
Senator Bonoff said, “these early contributors represent the strength of our support in this community. I am grateful for their trust and I look forward to building on this strong foundation in the months ahead.”
The campaign will also report nearly all funds raised remain as cash on hand.

Is this really breaking news? That figure has been public since early October. I think you first reported it on 10/4 in the “Rumble to Replace Ramstad”.
Impressive figure, yes. But hardly breaking news.
