yep,

You're exactly right. I wonder how many times Rep. Atkins voted against dedicating the MVET to transportation too? Remove Molnau? No, let's remove the people who have been in the legislature voting against roads and bridges year after year.

Thank goodness El Tinklenberg had the courage to cut license tab fees and totally defund one of the largest revenue sources to MNDOT.

It is nice knowing that Jesse "The Body" Ventura won't have to pay $900 for his Porsche's license tab fees. Just think about how much better our roads would be if we had those dollars.

Thanks El...

That is a better idea because it is both attainable and rational.

I have a better idea, let's get rid of every person who has been in the legislature for the last decade that's voted against the MVET and other funding for roads and bridges in favor of more funding for health and human services and light rail.

Yeah, it's time for her to step down as head of MnDOT and get a transportation expert in there. I think this is true for any Government Agency. Doctors should head up the Dept of Health, Educators the Dept of Education, a scientist the EPA/MPCA etc...

I honestly don't think that any one person can be blamed for the bridge collapse, no one could have truly known that would happen (I think). Also, we should trust the engineers who design and maintain the bridges. If they say noone could have known, we should believe it. If they say it could have been prevented, we should also believe that.

Like I've said before. I think that the bridge collapse is indicative of a larger problem in Minnesota politics. We've settled for mediocrity in state and local government. The controlling parties (the DFL and the Republicans) have settled for partisan bickering, ideological stalemates, government shutdowns and last minute special sessions over the years. Meanwhile, they raise their per diem pay, they waste time trying to ban gays and abortions and focus on getting more face time with the press to further their egos. They've ALL failied, from the top down. We need to kick all of them out and start over. State and Fed level.

Molnau has proved herself to be incompetent as DOT Commissioner. MNDOT is a department in need of a major shakeup. decisions were made on the basis of cost that have proved to be fatal to 13 Minnesotans, injured hundreds more and caused untold economic hardships to the business community. Business at the Quarry shopping center is down over 30%. Thousands of gallons of extra fuel are burned every day as drivers have to reroute to avoid the collapsed bridge.
You may have noticed the story of the Nukes that flew from ND to Louisiana, 70 airman have been disciplined, INCLUDING the base commander, who was removed. He was held accountable. Don't give me that crap about how we don't know what caused the bridge to collapse, we do. We don't the exact mechanism of the disaster but we know why it happened, it was a failure of leadership and process in MNDOT for which, so far, NO ONE has been held accountable.
