I bet the Franken camp can only hope for the same goodness a few months from now at the DFL Convention (which will be in Rochester).
Franken takes himself, politics seriously
Polls show GOP Sen. Norm Coleman consistently in the lead in a Franken-Coleman matchup, but with Franken within the margin of error or just outside it. The polls also indicate that Mike Ciresi, a St. Paul attorney who is also seeking the DFL endorsement, would be competitive. The polls suggest that Franken has a shot, and Franken himself talks like someone who has more than a shot.
Unlike many political pros — and contrary to what his own comedic career might suggest — Franken is not a candidate of one-liners. When he talks about universal health care or the war in Iraq or early childhood education, as he did Friday at Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe in downtown Rochester, his ideas don’t come in digestible sound bites.
“You have to get the complete answer on this,” Franken said at one point, then launched into an extended discussion about Iraq and what he believes the U.S. needs to do to extricate itself from the war.

I wanted to hear a joke about environmental pollution and geese.
