Americans United for Change unveiled a new ad today skewering Congresswoman Michele Bachmann once again for continuing to vote against SCHIP proposals. For those who don’t know, SCHIP stands for “State Children’s Healthcare Insurance Program” and would get 3+ million kids off the uninsured rolls. The plan is relatively cheap due to the low cost of insuring kids. Some might say that we have a moral imperative as a modern nation to insure the health of our innocents, but then again some say this is a back-door to bringing Stalin back from the dead and instating him as the Dictator-for-life of the Union of American Socialist States… I’m going to go with the moral imperative side.
Take a look:
Other facts:
Congresswoman Bachmann voted against Children’s Health Insurance. [HR 976, Vote #906, 9/25/07; passed 265-157]
Congresswoman Bachmann refused to overturn Bush’s veto. [HR 976, Vote #982, 10/18/07; failed 273-156]
Congresswoman Bachmann voted against a revised SCHIP bill. [HR 3963, Vote #1009, 10/25/07; passed 265-142]
Give her a call if you’re into getting sick kids medicine: 320-253-5931

We should instead try to get the masses of truly poor kids who currently qualify for SCHIP but don’t use it in the program, before expanding it to higher parental income levels.
The program is not accomplishing its true goal - to provide insurance for poor kids. Let’s fix that problem first.
Zach you are a simpleton… you know as well I as I do that bachmann is not against sick kids….she is against socialism… but the minions that read and comment on this blog think like you do, so continue to preach to your small choir
er sorry zach, it is matt, matt is the simpleton this time
KEEP IT UP BACHMANN!!! I’m beginning to think that your the only conservative left in MN :(
Conservative??? Bachmann is voting the way her Caucus is telling her to vote.
Kathy,
I have to laugh at your comment about Bachmann considering your own saint, Tim Walz, has voted with Nancy Pelosi 96% of the time. I guess Walz votes the way his Caucus is telling him to vote too.
If anyone is against sick kids getting health care right now, it’s the Democrats who refuse to pass a bill they know will be signed into law. They are more interested in having an election day issue than actually getting something done to help needy kids.
Michele Bachmann has voted against just about every Bill suported by many of her GOP colleagues since taking office. If it costs money she is against it. But she supports the occupation in Iraq no matter the costs in borrowed mega Billions.
If Bachmann cared about insuring Children, she would question why Employers in this country are dropping health Care plans for their employees, leaving many more American families without it through no fault of their own. Let alone face her constituents as to why many are working 2 and 3 jobs and still cannot afford Health insurance for their families. She has yet to face the people she represents who differ from her on the issues.
Her fear tactics in the St. Cloud Times and Star Tribune using false information regarding SCHIP was blown out of the water by those in Congress and letter writers who know the facts. It is Bachmann who has bought into the GOP Talking Points, that it is actually becoming halrious to read her opposition to this bill or any bill. All one has to do is go to http://www.projectvotesmart.org to see how she has voted.
As for Tim, he scrutinizes Bills before he votes on them. He is home every weekend, holding meetings with costituents regarding the issues, asking them for thier input on Bills up for votes in Congress. I know Chris, because I have been present at some of those gatherings where he asks…”What is it that you need to be said on the House Floor?” He asks and listens to us before Pelosi.
That is the difference between these two Representatives, where one is actually ONE. The other phones in to Talk Shows or does telemeetings so she does not have to face those who are critical of her.
Kathy,
You know nothing about Michele Bachmann and how she conducts her Congressional office. If you think Walz represents the First District and not Nancy Pelosi, you’re fooling yourself. The recent article in the Star Tribune about Walz supporting special federal rights for transgender people shows that Walz is out of step with the district.
LOLOLS!!!
OMG so funny.
Keep feeding the trolls. It’s great fodder.
I’m so proud that occasionally I too can be the simpleton around here.
Matt, you haven’t arrived until Chris questions your patriotism. That’s the gold standard.
Walz had questions about the lamguage in a Bill regarding Transgendered individuals being excluded from Descrimination protections. http://www.startribune.com/10223/story/1516439.html
Are Transgendered people not human also? Do they get descriminated against? Yes they do!!! Do you know any Transgendered peolple, Chris??? I bet you do not. The Transgendered are voters, contributors to a community, parents, and so on.
As for Bachmann, she does her utmost to avoid answering to her constituents who do not meet her requirements. I read LTEs of the papers in her District and they are not overwhelmingly supportive of her. There was one the other day in the St. Cloud Times by a constituent who was rebuffed by her office staff regarding the recent SCHIP vote.
Alas, it’s something I’ll always strive towards Richard.
