Breaking: EMILY’s List Endorses Bonoff

This endorsement will be a major factor in this face.
UPDATE: No one should be surprised by this endorsement, but don’t let that trick you into thinking its not a critical development in this race. In addition to their oft noted fundraising prowess, EMILY’s List is a great resource for campaigns; offering candidate and staff trainings and connecting candidates with experienced staffers and consultants. Bonoff, who is already putting together a well financed and well staffed campaign, got a major boost today with this endorsement.

And if Bachmann were just as completely crazy, but pro-choice, Emily’s list would endorse her too. I mean seriously, it is politics news, and this is a political blog, but this is ‘Sun rises in East, more at Eleven’.

Bonoff is going no where. She has already flopped and will not be taken seriously at all.

  3. 3 3 yep

Maybe Bonoff will be appointed the new Secretary of State when Ritchie resigns.

    Jeez, troll city.

John S - No they wouldn’t. EMILY’s List only endorses Democrats. And Democrats are, by definition, not as crazy as Bachmann.

    Jim-
We’ve got a few nuts in the pantry ourselves, I’d say. My point is still pretty simple: EMILY’s isn’t a hard won endorsement for a pro-choice, female Democrat.

Freaking important from the fund-raising angle, but not unexpected.

Yeah, it’s hard to see how that was unexpected.

  7. 7 7 Emily's Joke

Emily’s List has apparently become a joke.

This PAC was supposed to endorse women who are pro-choice. So why did they choose to endorse someone who — as she has done on so many progressive issues in her VERY SHORT TIME http://www.mankatofreepress.com/local/local_story_135223302.html

  8. 8 8 Emily's Joke

So I thought Emily’s List endorsement went to women who were solid on the issue of choice?

So why would this endorsement go to a politician who, on the issue of choice, has chosen to triangulate on this issue (as she has on many other progressive issues) in the VERY SHORT TIME she has been in the Legislature?

What do you mean? The Emily’s List endorsee isn’t solid on choice? Let’s explain…

So across the country, “Pro-Lifers” are trying to get Democrats on record voting for legislation that equates fetuses to babies. How do they do this? They put forth “fetal burial” bills, which on the surface are about protecting the rights of women who have miscarriages so that they can bury the remains of their unborn children. Are there clinics across the country or in Minnesota refusing to give women their miscarried fetuses? No, this is a BS issue, a solution in search of a problem, used solely to drive a wedge between the electorate and politicians who believe that government should stay out of bedrooms and out of the relationship between a woman and her doctor. So they propose laws about the sanctity of fetal burials in order to force pro-choice Dems to vote in a way that they will later claim equates fetuses to babies.

So who is the only Minnesota Senate “pro-choice” and gullible Democrat to fall for this ruse?

    Two things:

    1. This is very important in the race. This endorsement may have been the second most important one (besides the DFL, of course) for Congresswoman McCollum when she first ran. It meant that she would be competitive financially right through to the end of the campaign. It means the same for Bonoff and I can’t think of any equal endorsers for the other democrats or the republican yet.

    2. As to Mr. Joke’s posts, I appreciate your passion, but if we say that a moderate DFLer is a good fit for the district (and I do), then we better be ready to accept a moderate. I also think the folks at EMILY’S LIST know the issue pretty well and were comfortable with her position. I read and I did not weep.
