And I’d say that was more smoke-screen. The issue here is that Paulouse was a hack who couldn’t do her job, not her last name or background. Besides, I’d say this is a moot point now.

I’m not arguing that she is perfect for her job. I’m arguing that if it was the GOP attacking a Dem, and personal story would emerge in a big way and we (GOP) would be shamed for shunning such a pioneer.

I thought that complaining that someone had been promoted to a high position based on their diverse background when they lacked the ability to do the job was traditionally a Republican complaint about those bleeding heart Democrats only caring about politics?
The problem with Paulouse is that she was unable to do her job, and was viewed to be picking cases for political purposes (instead of, y’know, enforcing the law). While I am optimistic about the new AG (even if I thought he shouldn’t have been confirmed, he’s there now, and lets make the best), the rot Gonzales introduced can’t just be repaired at the top. It has to be pursued all the way down the line, and all of the apparatchiks who don’t have the qualifications or the ability for their jobs need to be fired.

I wonder what Paulose thinks to accomplish here. Does she think that by complaining early and often to the right-wing blogs and other assorted right-wing friendly media outlets that she can make enough counter-claims against her accusers that it might be written off as nothing more than a partisan witch hunt and she can continue as she’s gone?

Or is she setting up a book and tour for when she finally gets kicked to the curb?

I thought Johnson’s point (not sure if it was on that article or at The Claremont Institute) that if Paulouse’s story of a young, ambitious, female of Indian descent making on the rise like this occured on the Democratic side, the person would be viewed as a superstar. Because it is on the Republican side, it is fair game for the ripping (after all, we’re all supposed to be fat, selfish white men, right?)
