Americans like underdogs and while we get a little choked up over a heartbreaking close loss — we hate losers. I’m going to break with that important part of our national values for just one second.
Dear Alan Keyes:
Seeing you yesterday in the Republican debate reminded me of something I never got the opportunity to thank you for. Thank you for sucking so bad. Really, had you not been googly-eyes crazy with a voice like an irate Kermit the Frog, Barack Obama might not be running for President today.
Sure Barack Obama is running for President because he feels that his positive vision for America is needed, but can you imagine how he’d feel if he actually had to run to win the Illinois Senate seat? Instead of beating you like a pureed patsy, I can only think that Barack Obama’s upward trajectory would have been slowed had he been engaged in an actual Senate race. As opposed to the awe inspiring pounding he laid on you.
Ambassador Keyes, you didn’t even serve as a road bump for Barack Obama he ignored your pitiful campaign and went on to win without breaking a sweat — and we the American people never even had the opportunity to thank you.
Keep on truckin’ tiger!
XOXO
Sean
For those who didn’t see Alan Keyes super-crazy rants yesterday during the GOP Presidential debate, I present my highlight. Make note to check out the jowl action at about 1:00.

This might be the most irrelevant post ever as it is on the most irrelevant candidate from either party. I doubt most people who read this blog even knew he was running or who he is.
I am happy to respond.

I’d say Dennis has Keyes beat in the “most embarrassing moment on a debate stage” contest.
Keep on flyin’ moonbeam!
KH, why most you always rain on the parades here? Because truth be told, after nearly a year, Kucinich’s elf-like stature and the messages from Mike Gravel’s tooth-fillings were starting to get… repetitive. Alan Keyes giving up his own dignity to keep the loony file well stocked should be applauded.
More seriously, its not Obama who should be thinking him - its Huckabee. Next to Keyes, Huckabee’s unspoken claim to be a better than the usual evangelical rings pretty true.
Mean spirited shallow posts should expect mean spirited shallow replies.
“been googly-eyes crazy with a voice like an irate Kermit the Frog”
“beating you like a pureed patsy”
“Thank you for sucking so bad”
It is a shame that in 2007, African American conservatives can not survive without being branded with being insane or an Uncle Tom, or both as this post does. Rice, Thomas, Powell…
I know that this is geared more at Barak in a positive way, but think about the fact that a significant percentage of folks find this kind of thing offensive and racist.
Good point Purpledog. I wonder how this post would have been viewed if it had been on MDE about Sharpton during his last run.
It has always struck me as pretty dang amusing that anytime a conservative who happens to be a member of a minority is criticized, conservatives almost IMMEDIATELY start crying racism.
Keyes is a nutjob. Pointing that out has nothing to do with race.
For future reference Sean, using the term “googly-eyed” to describe an African American is rooted in racist stereotypes.
Besides, Keyes have eyes that seem half-closed to me most of the time. The other descriptors are not rooted in anything but reality. He got his ass kicked and he is insane.
pbd:
I’ve never heard anyone call Condi anything but a liar.
Powell has not been the target of any name calling. He is also NOT a conservative. Nice try.
Thomas is one angry MoFo and gets crap because he refuses to acknowledge that race played a role in his rise. He wasn’t even close to being the most qualified African American for the highest bench in the land when BushI appointed him. He wasn’t even the most qualified conservative African American. Bush knew he’d have an easier time putting through an black guy than another white guy with the Democratic Senate. Remember the Democrats had just caught the GOP in Iran-Contra, banking scandals, and check bouncing scandals in the previous couple of years. Thomas was as good of a buffer Bush could find. To be fair, Thomas has stood up for affirmative action as did Condi and Powell.
What was this about again?
For future reference Sean, using the term “googly-eyed” to describe an African American is rooted in racist stereotypes.
Ummm, I don’t think so.
Thanks for the link to the Kucinich UFO Youtube clip, KH. BTW, what’s up with Kucinich pimping his Jerry Hall-esque wife? Every linked Youtube clip seemed to be of her, not him.
Obama had it a lot easier than just beating Keyes. His opponent in the primaries dropped out because of information about his marriage, and then the same thing happened to his original republican opponent. In neither case was Obama in the lead prior to the scandals emerging.
“For future reference Sean, using the term “googly-eyed” to describe an African American is rooted in racist stereotypes.”
I can’t say I’ve ever heard that, and I didn’t mean to offend any one with my use of the term. Sean
“In neither case was Obama in the lead prior to the scandals emerging.”
Obama was ahead of Ryan in the polls in May and had been for quite some time. Ryan’s divorce mess with Seven of Nine became public in June.
I just went and checked my email (I’m at home sick with the flu) and a couple readers and friends emailed me to inform me that calling Alan Keyes “googly eyed” was insensitive. Again, I’m sorry if I offended anyone, I didn’t mean to. The mental image I had in mind when writing the post was this one (http://www.cryptozoology.com/forum/images/igor_5212.jpg).
Again I’m sorry if anyone was offended. Sean
What hump?
Here in Illinois we were hearing about Ryan’s divorce troubles well in advance of June.
Regardless Don, Obama was leading and had been since the primaries.
You’re right, my memory on this is faulty. He was behind Hull. He was well ahead of Ryan after the primaries.
Yeah, but you still have Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel hahahaha.
“Yeah, but you still have Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel hahahaha.”
You’ve got the guy who thinks the American Indians came from the middle east.
For future reference DJZ, using the term “MoFo” to describe an African American is rooted in racist stereotypes.
Now, on to a historical point. My recollection of the banking scandal was 1 Republican and 3 Dems convicted. And then that led to the House post office scandal in which noted Republican Dan Rostenkowski was sentenced to a year and a half in prison, later pardoned by noted Republican and First Black President, Bill Clinton.
Aalan Keyes is one smart individual. he can debate circles around anyone, Shallow Sean, another fine useless post, I believe that Kucinich and Howard Dean have dibs on being in the loonie bin, and yes Al Sharpton is a close 2nd

Its all the same as this stuff.
BRR,
You’ll have to go further than just saying it. MoFo is short for mother-blanker. The google eyes thing is well-documented for any of you who ever gave a damn to learn something and not stand opposed all the time. — — — — — — — — — — — — — pbd,
that was some pretty horrible ignorant stuff. If I was a commenter on those forums at the time I would have commented and stop reading them.
Like anti-strib and the free republic. Both are chock full of racist and bigotted statements and both are aimed at conservative republican audiences. Do you feel the need to apologize for them? Do they represent your views?

I was reacting to the characterization of these folks in the liberal echo chamber and media, as I believe you were as well. It is ok for the KOS and others to call Powell a “house slave” or an “uncle Tom” with almost as much of a free pass as Hip Hop artists receive for spewing their misogynistic and bigoted tripe.
However I have much higher expectations for the smart liberals on this site. I will therefore continue to call those who stray out, and respectfully request the same from y’all here and elsewhere when righties like me say stupid things.
So I see posts here saying that Huckabee & the rest of the Republicans look less marginal & wide-eyed goofy…
by standing next to — - ALAN KEYES?
No..Huckabee looks more extreme than Keyes.
