Broder Gushes Over Obama

Some of you probably hate David Broder, but its impossible to deny the influence of the Dean of political journalism. Today, he devoted a whole column to praising Barack Obama’s stump speech. Here is his closing paragraph:

And then, as the shouting becomes almost too loud to bear, he adds the five words that capsulize his whole message and sends the voters scrambling back into their winter coats and streaming out the door: “Let’s go change the world,” Obama says. And it sounds as if he means it.

In every audience I have seen, there is a jolt of pure electric energy at those closing words. Tears stain some cheeks — and some people look a little thunderstruck.

Obama might just win this thing (knock on wood).

  • I prefer Edwards, but Obama is great too. What about an Edwards/Obama ticket?

The Rethuglicans want to run against Hillary, because she will energize their base. Rove is reportedly afraid of an Edwards candidacy.

  • I like Obama as well - but I love how you ignored the opening line:
“Barack Obama has become a one-trick pony.”
And, really, we all already knew that Obama could give a great speech - it’s that there isn’t any substance to it and nothing beyond that.

I am with Scooter Fibby - can we have an Edwards/Obama ticket - 16 years in the White House!

I also wonder if Broder has been in Iowa lately and heard and Edwards speech - he is on fire these days.

  • Hillary will be your nominee and you know it!

John Edwards has a big house, and Barack Obama’s middle name is Hussein. They are un-electable because of those two things.

  • When the government is full of crooks, it’s time to send in the lawyer!

  • a slick trial lawyer?? no way… Edwards has no shot…and Obama is marginally better

  • Edwards/Obama ticket is music to my ears! And if they are not electable because of the big house and a middle name of Hussein…yikes, we are not that backwards, are we? Of course not…move over ya backwards thinking population…and welcome a movement for the greater cause…

  • Don’t worry about knocking on wood, Hillary’s already won the primary.

Why do other Democrats build up so much anger and dislike over one of their own candidates, especially since she is the frontrunner? Way to create polarization within our own party guys.

  • Not preferring the front runner is creating polarization? I disagree.

I would crawl over broken glass to vote for any Democrat rather than any of the Republicans in the general election.

But I believe the primary is the best time to pick the best choice for our party, going forward - and I think Edwards/Obama has a powerful chance to lead in a sweeping Democratic victory.

We need not only the presidency, but a supermajority in both houses - enough to override vetoes, to force cloture votes, and to impeach, if necessary.

That kind of sea change takes real, inspiring leadership.

Hillary is a strong leader and would do a fine job. But she has baggage, and is a polarizing figure to the right. Hillary would do more to motivate Rethuglican turnout than anything else. They WANT to run against Hillary.

Hillary has in no way already “won the primary” - there is more than one, by the way.

Hillary the “firm mother” is not a bad candidate, but Edwards the “fighting lawyer” plus Obama the “inspired dreamer” is a much bigger draw.

  • “Why do other Democrats build up so much anger and dislike over one of their own candidates?”

I don’t understand that either. I love all the true Republican candidates, every one. Only they can keep us safe.

If Hillary looks like she’ll be President, can’t we just declare martial law or something? America is at war with not only Muslim fascists, but we’re fighting hard to save Christmas from the Liberal scourge, and we can’t afford a change in the White House. Think of the children!

We need more of the same, steady, strong leadership as demonstrated by the Bush administration. It’s the ONLY WAY to save our children from Islamofascism. No Democrat offers that type of leadership.

  • who would the “super majority” impeach Fibber? Hillary? be carefull of what you wish for, because when the country goes to crap it will be all on you, and your filthy ilk… you all cannot run congress much less the enire government..good luck

  • As a matter of fact, the criminal Bush has signed several “signing statements” granting him unlimited power to cancel elections, declare a national emergency, suspend congress, even suspend business activity. There’s your hope scaredy pants. When it looks as if Hillary will actually assume power, your hero, the criminal Bush can declare himself potentate for life.

  • That’s why we need a lawyer with a true understanding and respect for the law in the White House.

No one is above the law - that’s one of the principles our country is founded upon.

Bush and all the Rethuglicans who march to his tune have perverted our Constitution and violated our rights. He has done more to set back the cause of democracy than anyone in recent memory.

Impeachment should be reserved for those guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors - like Bush and Cheney. There is clear evidence of malfeasance, but not enough votes to impeach.

  • “when the country goes to crap, it will be all on you and your filthy ilk.”

Since the country HAS gone all to “crap” due to Rethuglican mismanagement, I hope the voters do blame it all on your and your “filthy ilk”.

God - this is what passes for political speech in this country from the 25%ers.

Republicans do have some good ideals - unfortunately they have abandoned them for raw power and sheer greed. Remember:

    - no nation building
    - fiscal responsibility
    - integrity
    - moral leadership

    Pitiful.

  • how can Bush be impeached after next years election?? dumbass, difine “gone to crap” we are doing just fine thanks… Richard..wow..your paranioa runs very deep..do you really believe he will cancel the election??/.. NO friggin way… Richard..can you possibly prove all of your ridiculous statem, ents? Fibber, Hillary WILL be a horrible president..mark it down

  • Any Democrat will be a horrible President because they are unwilling to build permanent military bases in the Iraq so we can further spread Democracy and Freedom to the rest of the Middle East.

Kill them all and let God sort it out. Every Republican candidate is moving America in that direction. Think of the children!

We are fighting them over there so we don’t have to here, and how can we do that if we pull out for any reason. The job doesn’t end with Iraq! We need to be there PERMANENTLY!

We spend most of our money on our great Military machine, so we should use it. Why don’t you people understand? We’d be wasting our precious investment if we didn’t use it for a noble cause.

The war with Islamofascism is a greater threat that the Cold War, the Civil War and World Wars 1 & 2 COMBINED!

I don’t care how much we spend! I don’t care how much we’ll owe! I don’t care how much scandal, how many bribes, how many lies, or how much our great nation’s reputation is damaged. I need to be able to sleep at night. Think of the children!

I’m wrapping myself in a flag, carrying a cross, and moving forward! Now that Iraq is a complete, miraculous, and well known success, let’s roll! These colors will never run, not for anyone, anywhere in the Middle East.

  • Ironic how “Constitution Party” supports the party that is shredding our Constitution. But that’s what you can expect from the 25%ers.

Edwards/Obama - I like the sound of that.

  • how is the Constitution being shredded? are your rights being violated?..is anyones? besides the 2nd Amendment….

  • Edwards is a slick talking ambulance chaser, trying to start class warfare, with his 500 dollar hair cuts

CP there it is in all it’s glory. The long and short of it is the President or the National Continuity Coordinator would be in charge and granted sweeping powers. So, if for example, we were to launch another illegal war, say, in Iran, the criminal Bush could declare, in the interest of national security and continuity, a national emergency. Any government branch or individual trying to oppose the president, could be declared a threat to national operations continuity and renditioned out of the way.

  • did you know the POTUS declares a national Emergency each and every year??.. Tis true. and has been true going back years and years..nothing ever comes of it, but it happens, Clinton signed an EO in 1994 giving the government control over every thing in an emergency, what makes W a criminal?..and what makes the Iraq Police Action illegal? we will have an election in 08..no dissidents will be imprisoned or killed, and W will ride off to Texas, having known he did a job well done.

  • eh Richard, I just went to yoru link, not one word in it about about removing threats to national security, this is just a formality, pretty much meaningless, Clintons EO was much more nefarious..Relax

  • “Only they can keep us safe.”

((( sigh ))) What a tired, meaningless old meme.

“I love all the true Republican candidates, every one.”

Trouble is, there are no true Republican candidates. Not one. Bush Republicans, right-wing evangelical Republicans, faux Republicans? Plenty of those.

  • what, in your opinion, Baj, is a true Republican?..a RINO? a Rockefeller Republican, which would be a New World Order crowd dream, a socialist light, as opposed to the Demoncrats Socialist/Communist?

  • A true Republican doesn’t care how much money we spend in Iraq.

A true Republican knows that politics are a game and all that matters is winning.

A true Republican will work to silence those who have opposing views.

A true Republican knows that the greatest threat our Nation has ever faced is small bands of extremists with box cutters who’s leadership lives in caves somewhere, not the Soviet Union’s ability to destroy us several times over during the cold war.

A true Republican knows that Iraq is now a success and everyone knows that.

A true Republican looks at every issue as an opportunity for American business to make money.

A true Republican ignores 9 billion dollars in missing taxpayer dollars lost in Iraq, because the end justifies the means.

A true Republican gets angry when someone wishes them “Happy Holidays”.

A true Republican doesn’t care how elections are tabulated, as long as they come out on top.

A true Republican thinks the constitution is a goddamned piece of paper.

A true Republican knows poor people are lazy.

A true Republican knows the failure in New Orleans was Nagin not using those busses.

A true Republican knows that global warming is the biggest worldwide hoax ever devised.

A true Republican knows they are representing a huge majority of public opinion.

A true Republican knows FOX news is actually quite fair and balanced.

A true Republican knows what the facts are, and is not interested in any opposing opinion no mater what.

That is what America thinks a true Republican is. Enjoy.

  • well you nailed it, frightened idiot guy…couldnt have said it better myself

  • all alone on Holiday Eve, paranoid guy?

  • No I’m not alone.

There are Muslims under my bed.

  • Why is everyone chanting Edwards/ Obama it was Obama who took on special interest and successfully passed a law to restrict them, It is Edwards who follows his lead. Obama/ Edwards for pres!!

  • So we can all agree then the nominee will be Hillary and all the Obama news is to keep the negative press off Clinton for a while.

Repeat after me… YOU WILL vote for Hillary, YOU WILL vote for Hillary… ;)

  • I agree BG, Hillary winning is our only hope.

If she wins the Democrat nomination then a Republican will win, and we will continue to stay safe. Republicans are the only Party that can keep us safe from Muslim extremists who want to take over America. Nothing else matters!

    Think of the children!!

  • It’s fine by me if you all want to gush over Obama, but what exactly has he done to qualify himself to become President? He has been a career politician his whole life - spending most of his years in the Illinois State Senate and just a few years in the U.S. Senate. Hell, Norm Coleman has more qualifications to be President than Obama. I hope you put up an Edwards/Obama ticket myself. Edwards is such a phony that he will be an easy target in the general election. The man goes around talking about social justice and the little people but lives in a 15,000 sqare foot mansion and harasses his neighbors in the trailor park.

  • Yes Chris, no wealthy man can run in favor of the interests of poor people and get away with that. Who does John Edwards think he is representing the less fortunate!!!

Fact is, no Liberal candidate is poor enough to represent the poor, and neither is any Republican, thank God.

The poor should represent themselves with one of their own. unfortunately they’re all too lazy to run.

The poor should not be represented anyway.

  • The poor should represent themselves with one of their own. unfortunately they’re all too lazy to run.

I always knew liberals were racist against the poor. Too lazy to run?? Then I assume you mean too lazy to work as well which could be why they are poor? ;)

Fact is democRats want to give hand outs to the poor to gain votes. Republicans like to push those who can to work and reduce government waste so we can truly help those who cannot help themselves. (Not just help those who choose not to improve their lives) Republican want to teach a man how to fish, democRats just want to give the man a fish in return for his support.

  • Exactly, Big Kahuna, well put.

They are all too lazy to work, and therefore too lazy to run. It is a great way to broad brush the Liberal base, isn’t it! The poor love handouts, and would blindly support any Liberal candidate who promises them to cut their taxes.

All that matters to me is a Republican win in 2008, because they are the only ones who can keep me safe, so I agree with everything you say.

  • Typical Paranoid Moonbat Guy, you must havce lots of time on your hand to continue with your inane satire, the thing is, about 90 % of wha tyou type is accurate

  • I think about 100% of what I say is accurate, thank you. We’re pretty much on the same page then. Thanks for helping represent people like us so very well, Constitution Party. We’re in this together…not Americans, only Republicans, I mean.

  • Yes, I think Edwards/Obama would be very hard to beat.

The right wants us to put up Hillary, and they are afraid of an Edwards candidacy.

Let’s pool our resources, not attack each other, and get this country back on track!

  • Scooter, Edwards and Obama would be very easy to beat, just watch how easily Hillary knocks them off the platform. :)

I hate to burst any bubbles on your side, but the powers that be in the democRat party have all been paid off already and it will be Hillary. We all knew that after 2004. It is a shame because she is not the best of your candidates.

  • I have no problem bursting your bubble, BK. I don’t take advice or political prognostications from your side of the fence.

  • “It is a shame because she is not the best of your candidates.”

That may be true, but she is far better than any of the Republican candidates.

  • SeanH has nailed the only plank in the Democratic platform.

  • “SeanH has nailed the only plank in the Democratic platform.”

You are confusing reality with the fantasy platform floating around in conservative heads.

  • You mean the ones like…

I have no problem bursting your bubble, BK. I don’t take advice or political prognostications from your side of the fence.

Scooter, care to make a bet at all? ;) It will be Hillary and you will be told to vote for her and like a good little liberal sheeple you will go and vote for her. I am not telling you what to do, I am just stating what you will do. :)

Camrade Hillary will be requiring all liberals to vote for her. Yes, she supports the war and has already stated she will not commit to pulling out of Iraq and actually will not commit on much at all, but none the less that is who you will be told to vote for. :)

What will be funny is to watch all those who deny this now, come around later and claim Hillary is who they wanted all along. ;)

  • I know that I wanted George W. Bush to be our President all along!

I think he has done a fine job. You liberal retards thought he wasn’t fit to lead our Nation, and now look at the State of the Union. That shows you dingbats who is in touch with reality!

Do us all a favor and get out that vote for Hillary so we can mock you, as we always have, and always will. Just do it already. Git’Er Dun’

  • Most polling data shows any of the top three Democratic candidates beating any of the top three GOP candidates nationally. Obama shows the widest margins but Edwards and Clinton beat any GOP nominee by respectible percentage points. What’s most interesting is McCain doing the best in head to head polling but trails the GOP pack in third, even fourth place. The latest polling data out of Iowa show a vigorous three way race that’s really too close to call for the Democratic candidates. Huckabee’s recent gaffs have narrow his lead and brought Romney back from oblivion. If Obama wins Iowa and New Hampshire, which is a distinct possibility, and places second in Michigan, he will be poised to run the table in the southern states and will be very strong in the west.

  • This place needs some housekeeping.

Though I loathe the thought of a Clinton candidacy, she would handily best any of the clowns currently running for the republican nomination.

I think an Ed/Obama-Obama/Ed ticket would provide a 45 state landslide.

Why do all the 25 percenters expose their 8th grade education by posting inane drivel on forums open to the public? My theory is an innate misunderstanding of their own mental incompetence.

At least one poster got it right. The republican party platform relies heavily on fascism.

I am not sure, why did you post Lojasmo? ;)

Seems to me you are spewing the very same bile you were complaining about. Guess you must really be a liberal. :)

  • Big kahuna,

I agree 100%. The only people who are capable of spewing the very same bile they complain about are the Liberaloosers. That behavior proves his Liberalism more than any ideological opinions do.

    Great Job!

  • The neocons need to get over being labeled as fascists. It’s clearly their philosophical home and to deny it must cause all kinds of psychological trauma.

Seems to me you are spewing the very same bile you were complaining about. Guess you must really be a liberal.

Now that we’ve established that the typical neocon screed is bile, let’s move on to the next portion of that post. This is a position I’ve never really understood. Liberals, evidently, can’t use the same tactics as neocons of misrepresenting, lieing, personally smearing, marginalizing, and just generally getting the whole thing completely wrong without being labeled as what,, LIBERALS????
    Oh the horror.

It will be very amusing to watch the weak sauce that is the GOP list of candidates crash and burn. Compare the embarassment of riches the Democratic party has with their candidates to the ridiculous gaggle of corrupt old raygun wannabe’s on the GOP side and the outcome of this next presidential contest is not hard to predict.

  • Now that we have established typical liberal screed is bile, let’s move on.

Hey Richard, that was easy. ;)

Now go lay by your dish. :)

  • Methinks someone didn’t get the brownshirt and jackboots he asked Santa for. Oh well, just another cranky neocon, without conscience, bemoaning the country’s return to the reasonable center. Going to be a rough year for all the neocons. Especially the ones looking at defending themselves against charges of war crimes.

  • Methinks someone didn’t get the Kool Aid and Tin Foil he asked Santa for. Oh well, just another cranky liberal, without conscience, bemoaning the country’s return to the reasonable center. Going to be a rough year for all the liberals. Especially the ones looking at defending themselves against charges of us losing the war, hopeully advoiding treason charges. :)

Hey richard this is kind of fun. :)

You obviously do not live in the real world, but your posts are good humor.

  • You obviously do not live in the real world, but your posts are good humor.

I’m glad it amuses you to reveal your idiocy. We all must have something to occupy us. Here’s some polling data for you. Look at this and then let’s talk about the real world, the world where most people detest fascists.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html
    http://www.pollingreport.com/right.htm

Like I said, it’s going to be a bad year for fascists. Neocons losing everywhere and all the upcoming indictments,, well it’s going to tough to find enough jail cells. Maybe Europe can help with that, the trials are all going to be at the Hague.

  • I agree 100% Big Kahuna,

There’s NOTHING that makes me happier than to tell some Liberaloser what it’s like in the REAL world. To make them look like morons gives me an incredible rush, like that feeling you get when you scratch off a winning lottery ticket.

Telling idiots that they are idiots rules! That’s why I love doing it every day, day after day after day.

BRING IT ON RICHARD, because I’m having a blast!!

You’re a communist, tax raisin’, abortionist lovin’, Harry Reid lovin’, gay agenda lovin’, terrorist comfortin’, elite driven’, War on Christmasen’, George Soros lovin’, Mainstream Media Repeatin’, Pelosi lovin’, Micheal Morore lovin’, Constitution lovin’, Al Gore lovin’, Iraq losin’, politically correct threat to me and my family.

    Think of the Children!!!

  • I know you are but what am I? Uh? Clever enough retort? I know it’s Big Kahunaistic but I thought it fit.

  • You and what army, Richard?

Everyone knows only Republicans truly stand behind the troops and their invasion of Iraq.

  • Way, way, way behind.
