So, Joe Biden walks into a bar…
The hallowed spacious hallways of the opulent MNPublius HQ have been alive with the patronizing snicker of gossip — the subject? My support for Joe Biden.
Before you go bananas, follow me after the jump.
Okay, I understand that Joe Biden has a better chance of being crowned Miss America than he does of winning the Presidential election, let alone the Democratic endorsement. But, I think that he has the most logical and feasible plan for the war in Iraq, the most foreign policy experience in the field, and a plan for health care, that while I don’t agree with all of it, it has as good a chance as Hillary’s and Obama’s of becoming the first step in America’s health care overhaul.
Does he have a habit of talking too much and saying dumb things? Yeah. But so do I, and I can’t hold it against a brother if we’ve committed the same sins. But I think he’d probably be the best President.
Like I said — the dead shall walk the earth and we will be beset by plagues before Joe Biden is elected President, but every now and then, almost as an intellectual exercise I like to support candidate who I agree with the most, but who won’t win. Sometimes there are surprises (Steve Kelley, not that he won, he just did better than I thought he would) but usually they are consigned to the dustbin of also ran status.
I would be happy with any of the three major Democratic candidates, Hillary, Barack, or Edwards (although Edwards progressive populism hasn’t rung my bell recently), and I think that we can win the White House with any of them.
So there (Matt and Zack); chortle at will.

Well, that makes you the second fan of Joe Biden I’ve heard of … after Gennifer (with a G)Flowers…
Really … http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/12/07/gennifer-flowers-considering-voting-for-hillary-clinton/#more-3641
Joe has a fighting chance. One of the state legislators whose support he bought in S.C. got bought out by Obama, but his support is growing in Iowa. These candidates are 98% the same in terms of positions so there’s not much to go on other than character, ability, and experience. And as Joe said in response to being characterized as a good secretary of state in reference to the other candidates - “Would you vote for anybody who wasn’t qualified to be secretary of state?”
I kinda agree…
But I alredy bought my Hillary 2008 bumper sticker back in the summer…
Curt Hillary bought the election back in 2004. :)
