House Republican Caucus: Moderates Need Not Apply #13

Here is what Ron Erhardt had to say about this weekend’s purging:

Republicans punished three of the “Override Six” legislators Saturday, withholding their support from GOP lawmakers who voted to overturn Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s veto of a tax-raising transportation bill last month.

At a Republican convention in Edina, delegates voted to dump Reps. Ron Erhardt, of Edina, and Neil Peterson, of Bloomington. Instead they overwhelmingly endorsed two more-conservative challengers.

“This party has a death wish,” Erhardt, an 18-year House veteran, said after the vote.

So true.

Well… he is right. The GOP does seem to want to lose this year.
How else do you explain their actions?

No, they’re taking the Pope Benedict position, where the conservative leadership of the Republican party would rather have their rank-and-file simon-pure on their conservative dogma, than to have more members in their rank-and-file.

No don’t say it… The Republican Party is an elitist organization. Why what ever happened to the cloth coats and checkers the dog? You don’t suppose that when the Republican Party decided that its’ political philosophy was Greed, God and Hate it lost its’ hold on decent Americans?

I woldn’t get too excited. Both parties have an equal ability to self-destruct, only it seems like the Democrats are doing it in the Presidential race this year (thanks, Senator Clinton!).

Shoot, why waste shooting yourself in the foot over some penny-ante legislative races in flyover land, like the Republicans are doing? We’re saving it for the big time!
