I will show as much respect for a sitting politician as they show for me, the voter.

The Bonoff camp has thrown so much mud, played so many dirty tricks and been so nasty-- by the way- by Terri's own admission and unapologetic attitude. Trouble is the voter has seen it, heard it and turned away from it.

Respect does go both ways Union Man.. That is why you have been told to use the name that Ashwin Madia prefers as a 30 year old congressional candidate. Respect goes both ways when you infer that only Bonoff is a "true democrat".

You never answer the hard questions about your candidate. You just heap threats and accusations against the opposition.

Any salt poured on your wounds is because you won't let anything go.

So you are now threatening what-- that your mysterious union will either stay home on election day or vote for the republican?

How does THAT help your union?!

Again, why isn't his response a sufficient "retraction?"

Union Man,

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

It's time for the crap to end. Frankly, word has it that Rick Kahn went ballistic today at the Bonoff fundraiser against Madia. It's about time that respect goes both ways. It's a shame that the Bonoff people only throw stones and then cry fowl when their crap is thrown back at them.

Everyone should answer questions about their backgrounds. You have ever right to demand answers to questions you have. Others also have the right to demand answers from Bonoff.

We don't have to show fealty to a sitting state senator. She's not my senator. I'd ask her if she were running in my SD to defend her positions and comments before I voted for her. But, when she decides to run in the 3rd, she should answer to those she needs to vote for her. So far, her supporters have ignored the requests for answers and she doesn't answer questions either.

It goes both ways.

SW,

Beg for forgiveness, never asked for that. But if he thinks he will get the endorsement of the union I belong to, it will be a cold day in hell before that happens without a retraction. If he feels that he doesn't need it, so it be. He may have the Teamster 120, SEIU, one local of CWA and one Machinist local endorsements, but he has failed to get the endorsements of the two largest unions in the state. If think he doesn't need them, only time will tell.......

If you think that putting salt on a wound to Bonoff supporters helps Jigar, you are also mistaken. It's amazing how easily many of the Jigar supporters were willing to accept him as a former Republican hack, but are quick to throw stones at a fellow true Democrat weather you agree with her or not. It's very evident that Bonoffs campaign made some serious mistakes and blunders, but many of you shouldn't be so negative on a sitting DFL Senate member. It's about respect.....

As for the questions that I have for Jigar, I feel I have the right to ask as a voter. If you think that former positions that politicians take should not be questioned, you are adamantly wrong. That is what the endorsement process is all about, finding out what the track record is of a candidate and what commitments you can get from them regarding your issues.

Union Man thinks that Madia needs to prostrate himself on the ground and beg for forgiveness for the things he wrote when he was 18 years old.

I would think asking Bonoff where whe was when Tonka starting outsourcing jobs would matter more.

I would think her stating at the Brooklyn Center Forum that "outsourcing can be good for companies" and "outsourcing is not always a bad thing" would be concerning. ( go find the tapes-- they exist)

And again, what union do you belong to? Why the secrets?!

UM,

Isn't Madia's response to Bonoff's mailing a sufficient repudiation of his previous statements on unions to garner your support?

http://www.mncampaignreport.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=CBD9B3FDA654A99C9DC2AA9C66D691EC?diaryId=1234

Just curious what more you think he would need to do.

OK primary...let me get this right, you don't think she needs more labor support or Bonoff supporters? You can't be serious are you? You must not know this CD well enough to think that Jigar doesn't need all of labor and Dems on board.

All you have to do is look at the demographics of this CD to figure out what is needed to win. Jigar needs all of labor, all Dems and all swing voters to win in this marginal district. If he doesn't capture all three, this CD will stay in GOP hands.

I can assure you that the union I belong to has a good amount of members in this district as many other unions do also. Like it or not labor can tilt the table considerably in this tight election.

Jigar will need everyone he can get, he just needs to do the right thing......

Terri will drop out on the second ballot, Union Man. You've been telling us she has enough delegates to block. I'm not being an ass. Im just saying that you've come around to the reality that she may not have enough to block, and that your sources were not reliable.

Madia does not need more than the labor support he has to win this CD. He's going to win on the Obama wave and the centrist votes. Frankly, at the end of the day he doesn't need hyper partisan Bonoff supporters who attack and represent the old politics. He doesn't care about them. He's building a new movement, and we'll win! !

I have to agree, Union Man. People need to be able to ask their questions, get reasonable answers or put things into perspective. For me, it's not important what one candidate did over a decade ago if we can't question the other candidate about their positions/actions a decade ago.

I'd like to hear the answer to your question (as would others, I'm sure) just as I'd like to hear about Bonoff's actions at Tonka Toys during their outsourcing of many local jobs during her tenure there. I know people who lost their jobs there and they really suffered as a result. She touted outsourcing as being good for companies during a forum at Brooklyn Center and I'd like her responses to people who lost everything, too.

We need to consider both candidate's records from a decade ago. It's only unfair to consider long ago comments and positions if we only ask one candidate.

Primary,

There is no reason to be an ass about it. I said that I would support with conditions. Without those conditions being met, me and many other union members will not vote for him.

If he was so much of a superior candidate he would've wrapped it up already. Don't be so sure of yourself that he is that great. If, and the key word is IF, Terri drops out, he will end up with the endorsement.

I'm not slamming the SEIU endorsement, but it is not the end of the world.
