Operating Engineers Local 49– a union personally affected by the 35W bridge collapse, one of their members died in it, had this to say about the exploitive ad being run by an out of state interest group.
Wednesday, March 19, 2008 — In response to the issue ad that is running in support of Sen. Norm Coleman, the following statement was issued by Glen Johnson, Business Manager of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49:
“On August 1, 2007, we lost a friend and a brother. Greg Jolstad, an Operating Engineer who was working on the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, died when the bridge collapsed without warning. We still mourn the sudden loss of our friend, a devoted husband, father, and a member of our union local.
“But today, an out-of-state political organization is running a campaign ad in Minnesota that uses images of a tragic event to promote a political agenda and the reelection campaign of Senator Norm Coleman.
“Greg’s family and the people of Minnesota deserve better than the shameless exploitation of this tragedy for political purposes, which is beneath the standards of our great state. Out of respect for Greg, we ask Senator Norm Coleman to condemn this ad in the strongest possible terms, and call on him to demand that this shadowy organization to pull the ad off the air without delay.â€

Nicely done… ghoul that Coleman is he won’t care. But Minnesotans will care…
Sean:
I love your selective outrage. On November 20, 2007, the Minnesota DFL sent out a fundraising e-mail, signed by Congressman Tim Walz, which discussed the 35-W bridge collapse.
It is the height of hypocrisy for the Minnesota DFL and liberal bloggers to complain about the politicization of the 35-W bridge collapse, while ignoring the fact that the Minnesota DFL raised money off the tragedy.
‘Cause you’re never selectively outraged Michael.
Never.
Sean
Good job 49ers!
Norm=FAIL
“a campaign ad in Minnesota that uses images of a tragic event to promote a political agenda”
Haven’t the Dem’s been talking non-stop about the 35W collapse as a reason to pass the transportaion bill which includes huge subsidies for Mass Transit?
Weren’t people like Tinklenberg on the TV immediately after the collapse trying to place blame on the Governor?
How is that different?
Michael doesn’t see the difference between an e-mail sent to opted-in addresses, and a TV ad.
Or, he does - but doesn’t care.
TPT: What’s the difference? Sean called the ad “exploitive” while ignoring the fact that his party used the 35-W bridge collapse to raise money.
Really TPT– What is the difference? Never mind that Michael can’t address the content of the OE’s statement, he can just make it some piddly ass back and forth instead!
Sean
The difference is who sees it.
See– the thing is, even if Michael were to believe that there would be some ’subjective’ aspect to this, he wouldn’t acknowledge it in public because then this while “Democrat Exposer” thing he’s got going for him would be kaput.
Sean: This union had endorsed Al Franken’s campaign and there is no record that I can find of where they complained about the DFL using the 35-W bridge collapse to fundraise.
You still don’t see the difference, do you, Michael?
little mikey is just following the Goebbels formula. If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it to be true.
Nice Richard, thanks for comparing me to a Nazi.
The only political party capable of properly deciding when to be outraged is the Republican party.
Why don’t you lying moonbats understand?
sorry but i have to ask… Who is this clown Michael C Brobcob. I’ve never heard of him or ever read anything he writes except here? Honest question. The guy acts like his opinion matters a bunch but I fail to see anything remotely interest, new or well its’ just a regurgitation of typical talking points from the GOP. You guys act like he is a somebody but I’ve never heard of the guy except here.
Color me confused as to why I should care what this guy thinks… Hell he seems to be ready to say that McCain had a news scoop, “Iran now supporting Sunnis tell Shia to stuff it.”
I would appreciate an answer…
GOOGLE Michael CB and see what you get so you can form your own opinion on who he is. He’s a blogger. Go to Minnesota Democrats Exposed (MDE) - numerous story links on this blog - and read his handiwork if you really want to learn who he is.
Sean, Zack-
Look at the two posts by amusinc and VS, and see the only thing that is accomplished by castigating Brodkerb in any situation that isn’t him flat out lying.
Michael-
You call on a paper to censor a columnist for criticizing your party. The shoe freaking fits
