Coleman, Kerry Blast McCain

The Obama campaign just hosted a conference call with Sen. John Kerry and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.  The call was designed to prebutt McCain’s visit to Minnesota this afternoon, where the septuagenarian Senator is expected to discuss energy policy.  John Kerry labeled McCain a flip-flopper and accused him of doing the "double take dance." Kerry then noted all the flip-flops McCain has made on the energy front:

  • From supporting a windfall profit tax to opposing it
  • From opposing off-shore drilling to supporting it
  • From supporting a mandatory cap and trade system to opposing it
  • From opposing drilling in ANWR to "reconsidering" it

More Kerry: "Befre John can debate Barack Obama, he has to finish debating himself."

Mayor Coleman noted McCain’s deep affection for the "Washington gimmick," highlighting his support for a gas tax holiday (a proposal that has been widely criticisized by economists of all stripes).  Coleman also pointed out that a gas tax holiday would drain money from infrastructure repair and said that "Minnesotans know the true cost of failing to invest in infrastructure."

Kerry has no credability calling someone out on flip flopping. McCain has made it clear he has changed positions because of the facts of higher oil prices. Much different than Kerry, who swapped positions because it benefited him politically.

    Sean2, I agree 100%,

Whatever daily flip-flops McCain has now, they are justified. John Kerry’s are not.

Thank you for pointing this out to these moonbats who hate America and want to surrender to terrorists.

Don’t forget, Sean2, to point out the SIGNIFICANT differences between George W. Bush and John McCain. Everyone knows McCain is a maverick.

The only issues Bush and McCain agree on are education, immigration, Iraq, abortion, Supreme Court judges, Social Security, tax breaks for the wealthy, wiretapping, trade, healthcare, the Middle East, same sex marriage and Medicare.

Those aren’t issues anyone cares about.

    Great Job!

TFWRG you forgot to mention that McCain and Bush agree on torture.

Even Geraldine Ferraro said tonight that Congress should take a new look at oil exploration given the energy crisis that we have today and didn’t have four or eight years ago. It’s pretty funny that Kerry would call anyone a flip flopper, really.

    Sean2,
Seeing as McCain broke the record on flip flopping last week, I would say he’s fair game. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/06/16/mccain-sets-a-new-record-10-flip-flops-in-two-weeks/

Just curious are you keeping up with Obama’s flip flops.

I will take public funds for the election (opps!)

I don’t need to wear a flag pin to show my patrioism (Opps!)

There is nothing wrong with Reverend Wright and that church (Opps I quit the church and I don’t know that man)

It seems like if he doesn’t do a flip flop a day he isn’t being Obama.

Maybe if Obama can last a week with no flip flops can you complain about Mccain.
