The Star Tribune’s editorial board has noticed that Norm Coleman is a little oversensitive when it comes to the subject of his marriage:
A handful of liberal bloggers apparently touched a nerve in Sen. Norm Coleman’s campaign when they suggested that his wife, Laurie Coleman, appeared to be “green-screened” into a commercial featuring her husband taking out the household’s trash.

It also showed a Senate candidate being hypersensitive to blogged comment and, at least in this case, hypereager to steer the campaign toward a discussion of personalities, not issues.
The Coleman campaign really bungled their response to the green screen questions. By overreacting, they demostrated their unease with answering questions about the Coleman marriage. The press noticed and now team Coleman finds themselves in a much trickier situation.

Zack, as I noted in your previous post, I’m sure today is a proud day for you and MN Publius. Thanks to Team Franken working behind the scenes, you’ve now been able to trash Senator Coleman and his family the way you’ve always wanted.

Sure we’re all quite upset about MN Publius, as we should be. I recommend we Republicans start frequently whining about them as our strategy to help Republicans win elections.
Repeat things frequently, then we Republicans will all agree 100%, and that will take down moonbats.

I smell a pantie sniffers panties in a twist. What’s wrong the truth coming out about a fake marriage? A campaign being run worse than Kennedy’s of last cycle… which really takes some work to screw up that bad.
Broadknob, is it not true that what is good for the goose is often good for the gander? Or doesn’t it work that way in Republicanland?
We do know that the acorn seldom falls far from the tree and Norm’s Dad had a real attraction for the ladies of evening. You don’t suppose we have a Spitzer moment in the making? Or is it a staffer? Or just some Washington lonlyheart? It isn’t Franken’s people doing the looking… its’ other Republicans and the national party. You don’t suppose that there will be an October surprise for our opportunistic Senator Coleman?
You can always tell by Brodkorbs’ immediate responses when the Coleman crew are in full panic and damage control mode.
So what exactly is Hollywood Laurie’s relationship to Norm???

If Norm was between Washington and Minnesota and Laurie in Los Angeles during the past 6 years…. where did their kids live?
As a hypothetical, if you live in DC with your girlfriend, and your wife is in LA, who do you take to the inauguration? And if your girlfriend is pissed at you for grabbing your partys newly elected state auditors ass during her acceptance speech, who would you bring. Just a hypothetical question.
Interesting how the Coleman Campaign invited this public look into the Coleman family, and is now dealing with the results.

What’s interesting is how Franken has been able to take all of the filth and sleaze he’s peddled for the last 20 years off the front page by attacking someone else’s wife and family. It shows how pathetic Franken is that he’s not even man enough to take on Norm — he has to pick on his wife.
Thank goodness the Strib didn’t name the blogs that made the original error. It might have looked bad for them since they reference this one every other week in their weekly blog section. This way, it’s Coleman that looks bad.
Chris, stop lying, I know its’ hard because you are a Republican. Franken has not said word one about Laurie living in Hollywood and no where near Norm Coleman. You are dreaming if you think that the campaign is saying anything in public… they are doing a private happy dance at the stupidity of Republican campaign thinking though.
All I can think is that Coleman has taken his campaign strategy from last cycles Kennedy debacle. That is the only explanation of him shooting himself ion the foot that bad. His wife wasn’t an issue until he brought it up with a weird ad, with weird lighting and seemingly the message of “See I’m as special interest pussywhipped as they come, but my wife won’t even be in the same room as me. Especially when I’m in my backyard with snow on the ground during June.” Reminding Minnesotans of winter when its’ 81 degrees out is just not smart.
And the truthfully funny thing is that this all is Coleman making Coleman look bad. Just wait for the October Bimbo eruption that is coming… staffer, babysitter or pro?
That “October Surprise” won’t be necessary.
Abramoff is scheduled for sentencing September 4th; by that time ol’ Smokescreen will be so closely tied to Abramoff that Coleman will be toast.

Coleman ignoring forced prostitution and forced abortion won’t play well with Minnesota voters.

Oops! Spoke too soon! The Strib blog column named names! They did keep up their “mention favorite blog” tradition though and I suppose that any press is good press in the blogosphere. And I think that Matt should run for Congress, his “I went with the intelligence I was presented with” makes him a natural. The Strib also sugar-coated the whole event by calling it “speculation” when “accusation” was obviously the more accurate term regarding the attitude towards Coleman. Carry on folks, it won’t get down-and-dirty for a few months yet, this is exibition season…
