The Hobo Senator (with questions)

This article from Wonkette is just too funny:

Norm Coleman, the hobo senator from Minnesota, rents a basement room from a Republican campaign consultant so he doesn’t have to sleep in the back of a freight car when he’s in Washington. Senator Coleman is supposed to pay $600 a month in rent, but he missed a couple of payments over the past year because he is a degenerate as well as a hobo.

Senator Coleman’s landlord is a gentleman named Jeff Larson, whose employer has helped the senator with fundraising ‘n stuff. Also Larson is the chief executive of the Minneapolis Saint Paul 2008 Host Committee, which is hosting the Republican National Convention.

But enough about their completely above-the-board connections! Apparently this apartment is a frightful dungeon that would terrify all but the most desperate vagrants, and Jeff Larson is a monster:

“I rent a cramped bedroom from him, with no kitchen. … It’s a place to lay my head,” the senator told a reporter.

Somebody needs to notify the proper authorities that a Republican pervert is keeping an impoverished, starving senator in his basement Incest Dungeon, the end.

As hilarious as the above is, it really hits the nail on the head at the same time: where the heck does someone find a $600/month apartment in D.C., much less on Capitol Hill?  I’ll tell you where: no where.  It’s just not possible in that area.  I had an apartment on the hill and it cost me $1200 a month and that was after it was subsidized by an intern housing organization and the place was a 1-bedroom studio dump (which I was more than happy with because of the location, but it was a dump) that I was splitting with a roommate.  Now, I might give Coleman the shadow of the doubt if he said he was paying $1000 for a room in a $1 million townhouse on the hill (that would still be stretching it), but $600?  Give me a break.  Does he really think we’re dense enough to see this as anything but a political favor?

600 a month for a single bedroom, no kitchen? That’s not outlandish. On the other hand, obviously the not cashing checks is a little shady.

  2. 2 2 PaulB in DC

Actually, a $600 single bedroom sans kitchen sounds about right. Obviously the not cashing of checks is questionable.

Norm should give Al Franken a call. Al could give Norm a few pointers on how to increase the ol’ cash flow…like, oh, bilking children’s charities and stuff.

Then Norm could afford to maintain two residences, like Al.

Scrotee, you don’t pay much attention - but then again, why would you when you’re so engrossed with your male pronography collection?

Ol’ Smokescreen is rumored to maintain THREE residences; the “homestead” in St. Paul, Norm’s dungeon, er, ‘scuse me, “basement” in W.D.C., and whatever it is that Laurie has in LaLaLand.

BTW - you look a lot like Jeff Gannon, Scrotee.

    Coincidence? I think not.

Norm should make a campaign stop at the Hobo Convention in Britt, Iowa in august. He has no chance of winning reelection, so he might as well get a start on the silly season and join his fellow washed up republicans who’ll be campaigning for the 2102 Iowa caucuses. Besides, he can pick up some tips from the old hobo’s- it’s gonna be tough commuting between St.Paul and his wife’s place in California on just his PERA and Senate pensions…

The point is, Norm is not renting the basement, he’s living in a million dollar home in DC that is owned by a contributor and employee. They do not live there, just Norm.

That’s the problem. Its presented here with too much snark and not enough fact.

Gannon has more hair than Swiftee.

Outrage overload as far as Republicans are concerned. You get free squatting privileges for bringing in millions of dollars worth of billings and all the Republicans are concerned about is who squealed on Norm’s cozy deal. Why shouldn’t a sitting Senator take free lodgings from a multimillionaire? It just makes it that much easier to pass along an envelope full of cash.

Jeff Gannon, I mean Swiftee, I agree 100%,

Everyone knows AL Franken intentionally, and with great malice, ripped off childrens charities. This is just common knowledge.

You frequently have repeated the exact same talking points Jeff Gannon does. I think it is great that both of you fine, patriotic Americans share the same interests.

I would love to see you draw some more caricatures of people you disagree with as penises and balls. Send a few to Jeff, I think he’d get a kick out of it.

Keep on spreading discontent on the internet and sending “Leftists” to the third ring of hell.

You are setting a fine example for these moonbats to see what member of the MOB is like. You represent so very well.

I also hope, Sweftee, that you keep on going to where the moonbats are protesting and ridicule them while holding the American flag. I love seeing you do that. After all, they hate America and want to surrender to terrorists, don’t they.

I’m sure, rather than thinking you might be “detached from reality”, these moonbats might instead have an epiphany and change their ways, and agree with you 100%, after you insult them.

    Great Job!

    I %100 don’t know that

  10. 10 10 TwoPuttTommy

Yoni, you “don’t know that”, because you’re a member of “The Reality-Based Community”, where facts actually “matter”; and the facts of the matter are that it’s simply not true.

Now, in the RightWingO’Verse, a/k/a, “Planet Denial” (where scrotee and his ilk reside); “Facts are stupid things.” Uncle Ronnie said it, bootlickers like Scotee live it.

Why, Scrotee doesn’t even see a problem with posting links to full frontal male nudity on “Family Values” websites, such as MDE, where posters are known for their genteel language and high decorum, but I digress.

The point remains, is Scrotee and his ilk believe what they are told, and they were told Al ripped of a Boys Club, so they’re there. “Hook line and sinker” there. Because they were told, and they’re “true believers.” Fortunately, it is a fact that the majority of Americans disagree with their rightwingnut agenda’ which of course! - is the fault of that damned “librul EmEssEm” (in their minds, that is).

Of course, they also believe that Boy Blunder is the BEST president EVER (ignoring another fact, which is ‘you can’t spell “WORST” without “W”’) and will soon take his “right”ful postition as The Fifth Face On Mount Rushmore.

Fortunately, the November elections are fast approaching, January 20th, 2009 is the end of an error, and Scrotee and his ilk will be in Permanent Minority Status.

    Cultish that right wing.
Whatever they wish to believe, MUST in all cases be true.

We’ve been told a lot of lies.

We don’t need any more bullshit in this state.
Its going to overload when the Republican Convention comes here in a few months, anyway.

They’ll think they own the Boulevards. But will they pay for them? Is Minnesota the only one to extend them credit?
Will Minnesota get left holding like New York did after their last convention there?

Recall, that when New York submit the bill to the RNC for extra protection, etc - they were told to take it out of their
“Homeland Security” allotment. Isn’t that practically criminal? Using the Homeland Security budget (after the fact) as the RNCs kitty?

How would it be if a private business, or individual got treated like that? Will Minnesota be?
