I woke up this morning to find that the story about Norm Coleman’s extremely close relationship to GOP consultant Jeff Larson. It hit the AP wire, shows up on Scott Goldberg’s KARE 11 blog with the amusing title “What the…?”, and is written up in the Pioneer Press. Here’s an excerpt from the PiPress article:
According to the Journal’s calculations, that work has meant a payoff to [Jeff Larson’s] company of about $1.6 million since 2001.
The Journal piece suggests the relationship “could prove politically damaging” in his re-election campaign this year but does not conclude there is anything nefarious or improper about the coziness of the relationship.
Last year, the senator moved from his D.C. apartment to a bedroom in a town home Larson owns. In doing so, he cut his rent from $1,780 a month to $600 a month, according to the piece and confirmed by Coleman and Larson.
Coleman has occasionally been late on his rent and didn’t pay for two months, although he later made up the back rent for the kitchenless abode.

Well, the Strib just picked the story up, too: http://www.startribune.com/politics/21866279.html?location_refer=Nation
Yup, a real “independent” candidate, that Norm Coleman. He owes nobody any favors. He’s a man of his own, takes favors from no one. Oh, and don’t forget (again), he’s happily married (didn’t you read — Laurie signed his rent checks).
There is so much “unusual” in this relationship — and so much spin from Camp Coleman — you don’t even know where to begin.
Has Norm been using up all of Goldberg’s shampoo, too?
I hear hair conditioner makes for great lubricant.
I guess the Blo&Go wasn’t bringing in the revenue.
A multi-millionaire needs used furniture? Really? No, seriously, used furniture?
That’s nice, jismo. Glad you got something that works for you.
I’m still waiting to read all about the great political payoffs that Goldberg is receiving. I mean there’s got to be some juicy no bid contracts, or maybe lunch in the Senate cafeteria involved somewhere, right? Right?
Of course - because it’s fine to take money or equivalent so long as you don’t give something really “juicy” in return.
Fast Talkin Normy.
Yap away so that they can’t ask more details…
Yeah, he’s concerned about the “good” for Minnesota all right…
Why do Republicans in particular, always seem to have these property tax problems -
he’s getting room & board for $600 & he didn’t pay some of it?
Like McCain not paying his property tax on his California property for 4 years?
Yet the right will scream about a few campaign fund oversights… They can muck up the personal finances forever - and its all good!.
Yeah. Poor people have got it made. Its easier to track NUTHIN’ than a big bankroll.
