St. Sen. Tom Bakk, Chair of the Senate Tax Committee and 2010 gubernatorial candidate, endorsed Al Franken this week.
Bakk’s endorsement is notable because he openly flirted with challenging Franken in the primary earlier in the year. Moreover, Bakk should have been one of Priscilla, Lord Faris’ best chances for picking up some establishment support. With Bakk in Franken’s corner, it is even more clear that the Lord Faris’ candidacy is more a an exercise in vanity than anything else.

Just to save us all some time: Tom Bakk must like rape and beastiality, blah blah blah.
In the interest of brevity requested by strategery… useless GOP tools who fake outrage but rejoice in McCain’s rape and bestiality jokes…
If Franken loses this election, I know I’m going to say McCollum and Cerisi had a lot to do with it. Much like if Obama loses this election I will blame the Clintons. May not be fair but hey, politics is rarely fair. McCollum is a good representative who has created serious enemies in the party.
Did you see Lord Faris’ appearance on Almanac?

She was AWFUL! Couldn’t answer any questions as to issues or policy. She will go nowhere.
The most important issues in this election are union election procedures (combating thuggish small business owners who hate “heroes” like Norm), he said, she said outrage, and who has the worst case of the vapors over who said what. We Republicans win, because OUR case of the vapors is way worse than anything any moonbat is outraged over. OUR Republican led outrage is unmatched.
Nevermind what the majority of voters want. Everyone knows listening to the majority is socialism, fascism, marxism, communism, etc. etcism…
Swiftee….ooops I mean Michael B. Brodkorb has been an impressive leader for Minnesota on these divisive issues that matter, but not anything else.
I hope Minnesotan Democrats follow the fine example set by the Minnesotas Republican leadership, MDE. Our future depends on proving we Republicans are 100% correct on every issue, and Democrats are 100% wrong on every issue. DEBATE OVER
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to spend some time trolling the internet, posting vulgar comments that take down moonbats, just as Swiftee…oops I mean Michael B. Brodkorb would want me to do.
uh…after 2 years and millions of dollars to be where Franken is in the polls - that’s a vanity campaign. Last week Franken was almost tied with Ventura!
Demure one:
You’re talking about the most recent poll, I”m sure.
Statistically tied with the incumbent under 50% is not a bad position for a challenger in a democratic year.
Faris seemed okay on almanac to me, although I don’t give her much of a chance. mid sept. is a dumb time for a primary. dfl should fix that before the gov race.
Faris just isn’t anything more then a protest candidate. She isn’t going anywhere.
The fact that Bakk who wants to be a party endorsed candidate endorsed another party endorsed candidate isn’t very surprising to me.
The problem the DFL has is that the Franken behavior is unacceptable to large segments of the public. No matter what the hired guns do, they cannot change the facts and the republicans are ready to slay him. Two full years campaigning and tons of money have him the least likely to win among democratic senate candidates nationally according to the Washington Post. He is slowly sinking and Lord Faris is the only hope the DFL has.
This endorsement is huge for the Franken juggernaut! Set ‘em up, knock ‘em down. Big, big news for Franken.
End sarcasm.
The only real news here is that someone who wants to be governor is willing to put his name on this Hindenberg of a campaign even though he has the benefit of 18 months worth of observation.
“If Franken loses this election, I know I’m going to say McCollum and Cerisi had a lot to do with it.”
If Franken loses this election, there will be no one to blame but Franken and those who thought he would be a good candidate. If Franken loses, everybody in the party should have to write a letter of apology to Betty McCollum for being right and actually having the guts to stand up and say the emperor has no clothes.
As for Ciresi, what are you blaming him for? He ran against Franken, and when it looked like he wasn’t going to win he dropped out and stayed out. Clinton stayed in the race too long and may have hurt Obama, but Ciresi didn’t do that.
Screw Tom Bakk. No one cares what this labor hack from the Iron Range thinks. Bakk wants to be governor. Gee, I wonder why he’s handing out endorsements? Let’s just hope Franken isn’t taking any environmental advice from Bakk.
