- Jim Abeler filed as a Republican in 48A. Abeler, one of the override six, was denied his party’s endorsement on two separate occasions. Abeler is opposed for the Republican nomination by Don Huizenga.
- Despite rumors to the contrary, Gene Pelowski filed for reelection in 24B.
- Former Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer filed as the endorsed Republican candidate in 16B. The incumbent in that district, “Independent” Republican Mark Olsen has not yet filed, but is expected to.
I’ll update this post as the day goes on.

Gene Pelowski is 31a. 24B is Cornish
Kiffmeyer is a member of a white supremacist group, the “Minnesota Majority”, who extolled the virtues of racial purity before being found out publicly and taking down the reference to the glories of racial purity.
Don Huizenga is even better - in a Topix forum created for the Anoka-Hennepin school levy and bond this past fall he posted extensively (and quite inaccurately for the most part)after someone insulted his odd array of homemade lawn signs trashing the district. My favorite line was “There is evidence of differing intelligence among different races, but not generations.” (http://www.topix.com/forum/city/coon-rapids-mn/TLITUQMK77IFL6L7H/p26)
This guy will be one to watch.
Julie, did you read the part where my home was planned for another vandalism attack…which was the only reason I was on the thread to begin with? I had already dealt with vandals, which I assume you condone, and was given a heads up about the same vandals planning it again? My mood wasnt the best at times, on that thread. Regardless…my comments are fact, not opinion…as demonstrated by the fact that the statistics came from the district.
Yes, I will be one to watch….
