Yesterday CREW filed an ethics complaint against Norm Coleman, asking the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate Norm’s sweetheart rent deal. Norm’s campaign and the MN GOP pushed back by claiming that CREW is a “front group” for Al Franken. This leads to a couple of important questions:
- What’s Al Franken’s beef with Jack Murtha? CREW called the Pennsylvania Democrat one of the 22 most corrupt members of Congress. Is running for the House in Pennsylvania Al’s backup plan in case this whole Senate race doesn’t work out?
- Why is Al Franken targeting Mary Landrieu? CREW filed an ethics complaint against the Democratic Senator from Louisiana earlier this year. I think I’ve figured this one out, actually. Franken hopes to knock off Landrieu so that he can snag her much coveted seat on the Senate Small Business Committee.
In all seriousness, CREW is a non-partisan group founded five years ago. They have targeted both Democrats and Republicans. They are nobody’s front group.
Michael says the MN GOP scored a “direct hit” by calling CREW a front group for Al Franken. The only thing the MN GOP hit was their own credibility.

Zack: As noted on my blog and in media reports, a board member of CREW donated to Al Franken’s campaign. Another board member donated over $44,000 to the DSCC - a group supporting Franken’s campaign. Some of the $44,000 donated by the CREW board member will likely be used to attack Senator Coleman. I believe CREW is a Franken front group.
When the first lie isn’t big enough, lie lie again…
Oh my GOSH! Somebody on the board of CREW donated to Franken’s campaign? Well obviously not only is crew a front for Franken, but Franken is actually the totality of CREW’s organization.
(Lest this quote be used against me or the Franken campaign, the preceding paragraph was parody, you nitwit)
Call the FEC. I am too busy clutching my pearls.
MDE is a front for the Coleman campaign. Follow the money.
Some of the CREW board members also laughed at material Franken wrote for SNL. If that doesn’t prove they’re a Franken front (should it be one word — Frankenfront?), I don’t know what would.
The complaints against Democrats in other states are a pretty obvious smokescreen. Al has been planning this for years (since ‘03, according to CREW’s website).
Thank You MDE Exposer for putting this in perspective very succintly. MDE is a front group for the Coleman campaign and Brodkorb is a paid Republican shill.
Makes you wonder about the credibility of MDE and the Republican Party don’t it?
Since it is obvious that Norm Coleman is in the back-pocket of anybody willing to let the Hobo Senator rest his head on cheap furniture, we have to ask “Is this how we want Minnesota to viewed on the national political stage?”
You have to admit that is great nomenclature for the Senior Minnesotan of the highest Federal office in the land. The Hobo Senator… I think I might show up at some Coleman events wearing a hobo costume with a question or two.
All in all Norm is becoming not funny in this ethics violation issue.
“Makes you wonder about the credibility of MDE and the Republican Party don’t it?”
No. MDE and the Republican party are both clearly lacking in credibility.
