The DFL caught John Kline slacking off…
Today, as U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Jim Oberstar, MnDOT Commissioner Tom Sorel, state legislators and Hastings city councilors came together to discuss progress on planning for the replacement of the Hastings Bridge over Highway 61, one face was noticeably absent: Rep. John Kline…
DFL Party Associate Communications Director Eric Fought released the following statement:
“Representative Kline’s lack of interest in showing up to do his job is not a surprise anymore, but it’s still very disappointing.
Way to represent your district John. Fortunately, Kline’s has an opponent in Steve Sarvi who actually wants to represent the 2nd District.
UPDATE: I should have been more clear in the original post: Sarvi attended the meeting.

Was Steve Sarvi there?
@ 63
Is it his job?
Either way, he was there.
Maybe if Minnesota bridge meetings were held in Texas he might attend?
Thanks, Matt.
In summary
Kline’s job was to be there, and he failed to be there.
Sarvi, who didn’t need to be there, showed up because it was the right thing to do.
THat is in part because John Kline, whom perfers avoiding constituencyies all together, feels his alligiences lie with the White House than the people he says he serves.
Which is why Steve Sarvi is going to hammer John Kline on the issues come debate time. From what I hear, Steve Sarvi is making headway with voters about the issues. Voters like that when asked…”Are you truly being served by your US Representative?”
Well, of COURSE John “Semper Never” Kline blew that event off. That’s what he DOES.
Link here, and watch from last cycle, when John “Semper Never” Kline blew off the Goodhue County Veterans Forum, at the Zumbrota VFW, to go pick up a PAC check. He sent his henchman, Mike Osskopp, in his stead:

Pay attention to how Osskopp lies - yes, LIES about John “Semper Never” Kline’s voting record with the Disabled American Veterans.
You guys are making all sorts of assumptions here. First and foremost, I find it impossible to believe that Kline wouldn’t at least send someone from his staff, IF his office was even invited. To me, it sounds like an Oberstar setup to help Sarvi. Maybe he should give him some fundraising help instead of stupid tricks like this: http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2008/07/21/brutal-rothenberg-calls-steve-sarvis-efforts-pathetic-and-unimpressive/
JOhn Kline and Michele Bachmann are REPS IN NAME ONLY! They spend as much time away from the constituency in their Districts. If they were truly serving the people, they would be holding IN PERSON Town Hall Meetings on the issues, speaking with people about their votes, etc.
Both have taken the “no earmark” pledge. “Needed earmarks” for one’s District, such a sa Bridge that is delapidated and needs replacing, is different from building a “bridge to nowhere”. There is transparency as to where the tax money is going and pork. Kline and Bachmann see all earmarks as pork.
Why do you think Bachmann so adamant against seeking Federal Monies for the De Soto bridge in St. Cloud??? “Let the State of Minnesota pay for it with the Gas Tax increase money.” That was so Marie Antionette of her.
John Kline has become so indifferent to the needs of the 2nd CD regarding issues. His voting record regarding Veterans, Students, Seniors, Children, reflect that indifference. As does Bachmann’s. Those two must be joined at the hip.
Why should Kline attend a meeting in MN2? He has a nice townhome in DC, and he can save time and money by not commuting back to Minnesota to do silly things like meeting with constituents.
He’s voting for Republicans and not Minnesotans in Congress anyway, isn’t he? So by avoiding constituents, he can avoid those grumpy people that always like to complain when the government isn’t doing enough for them.
