Rasmussen: Tie Ballgame!

UPDATE: Wow.  I am embarrassed.  This isn’t a new poll at all.  Rasmussen put up a new article republishing old poll results because of the flurry of Ventura news.  I didn’t read the story carefully enough.  Apologies for the error.

Rasmussen has their latest poll of the Senate race in Minnesota.

Coleman - 48%
Franken - 45%

Just goes to show that the MN GOP’s attacks might get a lot of attention, but they have little effect.  Could it be, for once, that the voters are more interested in the issues than the slime?  (gasp!)

Adding Jesse to the race creates, well, a three way race:

Coleman - 39%
Franken - 32%
Ventura - 24%

I am not convinved he’ll run, but it would be a race for the ages.

That poll is a month old.

If Ventura runs, I bet Franken finishes third.

Yeah, that’s old but I think the most interesting thing is that by 60-27% people said he shouldn’t run. I don’t think that’s really people who are opposed to him necessarily, but partisans on both sides are scared of him in this race; he’ll definitely take some votes from Franken, and Coleman will win a two-man race where they can just run negative ads so they don’t need any changes in the race dynamics. I think I’m voting for the IP either way, so I’m biased, but this race is just fun.

“Could it be, for once, that the voters are more interested in the issues than the slime?” Nope Sorry, we’re that stupid.

Race for the ages - blech!

After Jesse in ‘98, and Paul’s death and Norm’s hostile takeover in ‘02, and the E-85 overreaction in 2006, I’m ready for a boring race where there are two candidates who clearly present their records and positions and people vote based on that. They have these kinds of elections in other states. Why can’t we?

Month old poll with a margin of error of 4.5% which means it is just as likely Franken was down 9 at the time rather than the tie claim Zack is spinning.

The most telling thing about the poll is that more people have a “very unfavorable” view of Franken than “Somewhat Unfavorable”, “Somewhat Favorable” or “Very Favorable”. Franken’s base numbers are still significantly worse than Colman’s.

Regardless if Jesse is in or out, this race could be the nastiest in state history. I can still see Jesse winning if he’s in a race with all three candidates having unfavorable ratings.

It’s looks pretty clear that Al’s going to go unchallenged into November. Stranger things have happened and I’m willing/hoping to be proven wrong with a Franken win.

The crazy aspect of this race is how the prestige is gone from pursuing a senate seat. The required financial commitment and the need to be independently wealthy is a real drag. I remember Wellstone being the only member who wasn’t a millionaire when he was in office. Is there anyone in the senate now with that distinction?

    Okay guys:

One, why leave out the fact that the poll was a month old?
Because you’re trying to make your readers believe the race is
    close!

Two, why not mention other polls that came out since this
Rasmussen. The ones that show a double digit lead for Coleman!
Oh you don’t want to tell the truth.

And you are the guys that are criticizing Mike for his blogging.
Why don’t you just start try telling only the truth?

Oh that mean you won’t have to do anymore posting.
