Sanford on Differences Between Bush & McCain on Economy: Uhh….

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has been reported to be towards the top of the list of McCain’s possible VP picks; so, one might assume that Sanford has the best talking points available on McCain’s policy positions. Still, the close McCain ally has nothing to say when Wolf Blitzer asks him what are some differences between McCain and Bush’s economic policies.

Such a painfully revealing moment…

  • Sanford drew a blank, thought about it, and then gave a sound answer on earmarks. I’m not sure what more you want. Want something troubling, I think this is a lot more “painfully revealing”:

  • Well, personally I liked what I heard. There is no difference between McCain and Bush on NAFTA. That message really resonates to what group of voters where that can help McCain win? And earmarks? Really? This is where McCain is going to draw the distinctions between himself and Bush? Note to political wonks: most voters don’t know what an earmark is and when they are explained to them tend to like them if they are bringing money to their hometown.

They better get on message with something better than those two things or this could be a blowout.

  • There is no difference that means anything - and I’ll tell you, I don’t know of ANYONE - personally - who thinks this administration is anything but a disaster economically. I work in financial services, with some pretty big players, none, not one single one, thinks this President/administration has been ‘the business president’ or anything close, or I suppose, they’ve ALL expressed nothing but contempt for the financial malfeasance he’s shown. And now, we’re supposed to replace him with John McCain, who will do little different than making glib commentary about Democratic tax increases burdening business, while giving out massive tax breaks and subsidies to big players, further bankrupting the country.

I say, “No thanks”, and I’ll tell you, behind closed doors, so does Wall Street - in my experience.

  • Bwahaha. That was painfully funny.

  • @ Shaun2

    “what more do you want?”

Surrogates who are ready for prime time would be great.

And before you start yowling about the link you posted….that was several months ago during the primary. Find a current video if you want to make an appropriate comparison. kthnksbai.
