But has Franken even weighed in on reproductive rights? It's not on his website. I think the Democratic party has assumed for decades that because the GOP platform is so bad women will accept that they need to just trust Democratic men in elected office to be there for them. The Democratic party has taken women for granted for decades. This season, with Franken and his jokes, Hilary not getting the endorsement, and McCain people coming out with events for women only, a little bit of light is being shown on just how tough it is for women in the Democratic party to get any respect - and for women in general to get much attention from elected Democrats. In June Betty McCollum gets booed for raising concerns about Franken's sexist humor. This month at an Obama fundraiser the opening comedian told an incredibly sexist joke to warm up the crowd. Obama comes out and starts to sound like he objects to such hummor, but then totally undermines that message with a I was just messing with you conclusion. So hey let the jokes about women continue.
So many women in the Democratic party have now signed on to support Al. I think it is fair to ask whether Franken has been honest with them. Are all of the skeletons out of the closet? Something tells me somebody out there somewhere has a tape of Franken performing for our troops in Iraq and using sexist humor in his routine....come on that has to exist.

I think Franken is under the impression that abortion is the only woman's issue. Pay equity is personally much more relevant to many women than abortion.

Good lord! Amazing how Rebecco Otto - the STATE AUDITOR - totally blows off the import of equal pay. She implies that Franken is supporting equal pay - is that anywhere on his website? Has he ever talked about the harsh economic reality that women face? Please somebody, I would love to see anything on this. Then Otto goes on and give basically the same kind of "I know Al will support women" non-specific statement that the DFL Feminist Caucus Franken supporters put forward! Sorry but I am tired of this "wink wink...nudge nudge..hey baby things will get better, Al will improve healthcare and education for all - so don't worry your pretty little head about something like equal opportunity, pay, and rights...they exist in much of the rest of the industrial world - but baby this is America, we are too sensitive to talk about gender" message.
Augh - so Franny and Tomasin appear to be living the 1950s kind of "we are the women behind the man who earns big bucks" life. And Otto, who I believe does not have a daughter (I think a son appeared in her ad) does not seem to think pay equity merits discussion/concern. Again if Franken were known for supporting equal rights, pay, and opportunity - this would be different.
When you have daughters, and you look at the crumbling economy, eroding health care system, and gender disparity - you can't be as dismissive these issues.

How mnay of these women supporters were "paid for" by Al's Midwest Values PAC? Knuth, for one, was a recipient of Al's largesse in her last campaign.

Swiftee, I agree 100%,

One way to show the Republicans intellectual superiority over these moonbats is the "I know you are but what am I" attack. This works especially well when your opponent has not acted in the ways you define. That is a classic false argument.

I can see why you are the favorite amongst the Minnesota Organization of Bloggers. You represent their personalities and issues very well. They might as well tatoo "Swiftee" on their forehead slope.

There are some people who are going to read your comments and think you are an 8 year old boy with some emotional problems. They are just moonbats who hate America and want to surrender to terrorists. I wouldn't worry about them.

Others might be swing voters who are undecided. After they read your comments and understand what the base and soul of the Minnesota Republican is, obviously they are going to pull the right lever on election day.

I couldn't compose a more representative of Republican comment myself, so thank you, Swiftee.

Great Job!

See you at Happy Hour, Swiftee!

You know Swiftee, your comments are great. I laugh at their lack of wit every time I read this blog. Thanks for making me smile every day. You truly are a patriot.

I was uncomfortable with Franken's attitudes toward women and I have to say the video of Franny and Tomasin makes me even more concerned. It appears the candidate as well as the women in his family just don't get it. Yeah it's lovely that Franny and Tomasin could benefit from Al' bread-winning abilities - Franny can stay at home, bake apple pies and do the tough child-care responsibilities. No doubt in addition to handing out the tough love she got to change all the diapers.
Does anyone in the Franken family get the reality that women earn substantially less than men? Do they get that women's reproductive rights are being severely undermined (PLEEASE Jesse run - we could always count on you for that issue). Does anyone in the family get that women don't want to have to be dependent on a male head of the house income earner? On MPR when Al was questioned by a caller who was upset that Al seemed to think the 14th Amendment was good enough for securing women equal rights - ha! Earth to Al we need the Equal Rights Amendment. Al ended that discussion by noting that he thought the real issue was how are we as a society going to take care of everybody.
I am thinking Al sees women as creatures that need to be protected. Al, Franny, and Tomasin women need a level playing field - they need a Senator who gets that. It appears you all don't have a clue on this issue.

Thanks again TFRWG, but you should really keep your kinks to yourself or you could end up as a sequel to Porn-O-Rama Frankin's opus.

Keep it wide buddy, but keep both hands on the keyboard, K?

Swiftee, I agree 100%,

I think it would be prudent for you to continue to do disgusting things, and use disgusting terms to take moonbats down. If you don't like my suggestions that's MN Publius' loss.

Just promise you will continue to be a disgusting pig every change you get, because that's the only way we Republicans can prove our moral high ground.

Great Job!

Thanks, TFRWG. But I can't agree 100% with you this time.

See, a P&B caricature of Al Franken would be seen by his fans as an honor, besides they'd all just get excited and jump on each other. Also, the P&B caricature honor belongs to Ken Weiner; he owns the franchise im perpetuity.

But don't get discouraged, TFRWG...you're still a 100% cornhole dude in my book!
