Ventura Prediction Thread

Jesse is going to announce his decision tonight, until then, all we can do is speculate.  Personally, I still think he’s not going to run.  I can’t imagine that Jesse actually wants to be a Senator.  He might want to beat Norm and Al, but I don’t think he wants to spend six years in Washington.  That being said, he might just be crazy enough to do it.

What do you think?

    he’ll run.

    I think he’s in.

I’m betting he’ll run. If the the only downside is needing to make a lifestyle change and live in Washington for six years, he’ll run. There’s just a small chance of winning and actually having to follow through, so what’s he have to lose?

I also predict great joy in the Coleman camp. Norm gets an enhanced shot at another term, and the issues just get pushed further and further off stage… Sigh…

    I think he’ll run.

Here is another question: If Franken is running third and Ventura is within striking distance of Coleman, will Democrats abandon Franken (those who haven’t already abandoned him) and support Ventura? Are we better off with Ventura than Coleman?

Al Franken is the DFL candidate. I don’t see how anyone could organize/finance a challenge at this point.

He won’t run. Being one out of 100 senators is a whole lot less interesting to an egomaniac like Ventura than being governor — CEO — of an entire state. And a lot more work — which also is of no interest to this slug.

He wants to run, because he likes the attention. I also think that he believes he wants to be elected, but I doubt he has much clue as to what being a Senator really entails.

The fact that he is playing this “wait and see” game, and making his anouncement on CNN rather than locally, shows that he doesn’t think much of Minnesota, except as a platform for his relentless self-display.

The real question will be if he runs and gets elected… does he complete the six-year term?

another entertainer running for senate in MN…at least this one has some experience. here is one vote that will go from al to jesse if he gets in.

I have a feeling he doesn’t run… mostly because it is work and even more work if elected. He’ll use the spotlight to sell some books, get ego gratified and then at the end of the hour say … “I want to but can’t take the pay cut…”

The national audience of Larry King is his downfall… doesn’t even make the announcement in the state he is going to run in? We will all know if he has the whole family there versus just old blowhardy himself.

After Jesse’s fucked up term, how can anybody vote for him again?

Why hasn’t anyone else noted that Jesse claimed after his NPR interview the other day that if he was going to run, he’d announce it through the party and not some reporter. So what happened Jesse? An IP press conference not a big enough audience draw for your big bobblehead? I wasn’t aware that Larry King was an IP party official.

    Jim-

I wonder if Larry King is going to grill Jesse on his hypocrisies (there’s a lot more than what you mentioned, obviously) or he’s going to play along with the Jesse-PR event on his show.

It is Larry King we’re talking about, so I wouldn’t expect anything resembling journalism. Sean

I say he’s in. Not for the right reasons necessarily, but because he has an ego the size of Babe the Blue Ox. Watch out kids; “The Mind” wouldn’t book a spot on Larry King just to say he’s not running but is upset with politics.

    He’s in it for sure.

The DSCC needs to get on the air and hit him hard so he never becomes a real factor.
