I agree 100% that Chris should document his claims.

Dantheman,I agree 100%,

That's why we Republicans have to vote for John McCain, because he agrees with Paris Hilton.

Great Job!!

Chris, I agree 100%,

If you post some links to the story about these oil discoveries, that should take down some moonbats very well.

lojasmo,

Your post is way outdated. We've recently discovered 90 billion barrels of oil just off Alaska in the Arctic - enough to supply the entire world for 3 years and to supply America for 12 years. We've also discovered 86 billion barrels of oil off the outer continental shelf. You can do the math from there. And that doesn't even include the hundreds of trillions of feet of natural gas. The point is that while we should also pursue other forms of energy (though I doubt we'll ever have a 747 run off of solar or wind), we should immediately tap into what we have at home. Only the environmental lobby, which gives money to Reid and Pelosi, refuses to allow our own country to drill where there are proven reserves.

Re post #41 , I believe the ad is trying to appeal to people that support the troops.
Those that appreciate action rather than just words. Despite what some think, these people do not
belong to just one party. I don't think Dr. Bob is endorsing Franken, he is just stating how Franken helped
him in protecting our troops. Something that our government was not doing at the time.

Chris, I agree 100%,

People who disagree with us think that America is to blame for all of the evils in the world.

The Republicans, however, think that Americans who disagree with us are to blame for all of the evils in the world.

There is a huge difference.

Chris and Richard - your comments are much appreciated.
Opinions are a great thing to have - they don't HAVE to be based upon reality, as you well seem to know.

You'll have to excuse my not buying your spin, though.

Franken will be much better for Minnesota than any more of smarmy Normy Coleman!

Chris-

Given that the US owns 2% of oil reserves, and uses 24% of the supply, do you think it's likely that we will EVER have enough domestic supply to keep up with demands?

The US is the most extensively explored and developed oil producing nation on earth with 577,000 producing wells, and yet our oil production has dropped while our demand has increased.

We cannot drill ourselves out of this problem. Sustainable energy sources will save us (perhaps) Drilling will not.

Operation Helmet is part of the 'America Supports You' group which sponsors the annual 'Freedom Walk' to remember victims of 11 September 2001.

So I wonder who this ad is designed to appeal to since I think of the 'America Supports You' group as Right Wing.

Dr. Bob is an interesting character. I wonder if he remembers reading Standards of Conduct (SECNAVINST 5370.2) from his active duty days. I don't think he should be using his military rank and service affiliation to endorse a political candidate even if he says he's a friend and does not explicitly say he endorses the candidate.

I think the military could bring Dr Bob back on active duty and punish him by taking away his retirement pension. So I hope Dr. Bob still has his Republican friends too so that he can avoid 'administrative action' for his indiscretion of making friends with a DFL candidate for Senate.

Congress should be funding equipment needed by the troops. I don't know that a Senate candidate that supports an organization that provides equipment that Congress does not stands to gain much from an ad like this. Perhaps it's appealing to people whose vocabulary is full of 'freedom, liberty, democracy, victory, etc.'
