Roxane Battle with MinnPost got a video interview with Norm Coleman today regarding the status of the convention, the incoming hurricane and chatted about McCain’s VP pick. This part I found particularly interesting:
Coleman’s words regarding Sarah Palin:
She represents, I think, change represents, a dealing with changing the status quo, cleaning up corruption, I mean, she took on Ted Stevens and the political establishment in Alaska in a way that showed great courage.
Ironic, because Coleman has willingly been a part of that corruption with Ted Stevens. He was a “special guest” at Stevens’ oil company and lobbyist hobnobbing events in Alaska three times. VECO, the primary company involved with Ted Stevens’ latest scandal also gave money to Norm Coleman that he still refuses to return.
Why can’t Norm Coleman show the same “great courage”?
I mean, Coleman already has the courage to politicize hurricane Gustov, and it hasn’t even hit yet:
Republicans are already citing Hurricane Gustav as a major reason why voters should pick Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) this fall.
Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) made the case Sunday that McCain is best equipped to lead the country — whether it’s acts of terrorism or acts of God.
Appearing on Fox News, Coleman repeatedly cited the campaign theme of “country first” when describing efforts to prepare the Gulf Coast for Hurricane Gustav.
Absolutely disgusting.

He seemed very truthful there… what’s the problem?
What’s the problem? Coleman WASN’T being truthful.
No surprise there!
But, on the other hand, that IS why he’s called ol’ Smokescreen.
Here’s a YouTube of what McCain said, and then did, after Katrina.
McCain’s record is as bad as ol’ Smokescreen’s.
Norm lying. What a surprise.
Why do these people always get away with painting a smiley face on their disasters?
All this fuss about Obama & the silly complaints about experience that were overblown…
and then McCain, a heartbeat from medical catastrophe wants another George Bush in the white house?
If Pawlenty was a POOR choice, this woman is ludicrous!
If its true that she is a creationist, that’s what we really need in the white house, right?
Another science denier who has no opinion about Iraq, despite reports that her son may be deployed there?
Another Dan Quayle, or another Clarence Thomas.
This is an insult to Hillary & all her followers. She put it to rest that a woman can be perfectly qualified.
Its even an insult to all competent Repub candidates too. Romney proved despicable, but competence was not going to be a big issue.
So now the Repubs want someone like this? Perhaps a Michelle Bachmann? The country is a carnival ride for them.
No comments from the righties.
So there are no normal righties in the bunch here? ONlY party elites? Who are off partying with the hoi paloi?
I agree.
Its obvious this guy is full of it! As usual Colemen is a MESS!
Palin will be put to the test come debate time. Joe Biden is going to eat her alive….poor thing.
What is truly disgusting is McCain and Palin flying off to the disaster scene, to show what a “take-charge” team they are.
If they want to help, they would stay away instead of tying up airports and security personnel. Go to St. Paul and help delegates put together relief packages (which I think is a good thing). Sometimes, it’s not about photo-ops, it’s about doing something truly helpful.
Palin supported the Bridge to Nowhere and was on Steven’s fundraising 526 committee… Hardly ‘stood up to him’ at all, she used pictures of her + Stevens on her campaign website.
It’s simple, Norm has shame.
That zombie Michelle Bachmann was on Larry King with her idiot take.
There is something more than just bone-chilling weird about her. Bell’s palsy, or she’s had her brain botoxed.
In the meantime, the cops were bored & arrested Amy Goodman & beat up other people.
Guess they were looking for “anarchists?”
Just be polite & don’t ask about family values of the people who tell us they’re loaded with it.
Since the blog is about Norm being truthful…what lie did he tell? This is a politician who answered a question from a reporter with honesty…thats all.
Randy, the DNC did not do any “relief packages” at their convention either. There are many people and churches who are helping those folks. It is better for US to do what needs to be done instead of relying or banking on the government to do it for us. Did you get in your car and travel to NOLA?
Mockingbird….you should be ashamed of yourself. Are our police supposed to just stand by and watch 30 plus people destroy public and private property? The convention was barely running yet all of these people were out in force. Dont get me wrong, I like a good protest…and think we need to have them….but much of what I saw was just silly and immature. Knocking over park benches and smashing windows? I wouldnt condone that action from my 12 year old son.
Can we just let the convention happen…help in NOLA and the surrounding areas when we can….send some relief, or a care package or money to the Red Cross to help out…be supportive of our political process…and if Palin ends up being a poor choice, and McCain loses, so be it.
