Palin’s Latest Gaffe

A few weeks ago I almost vomited when I read this Newsweek article, entitled “Put Palin on the Supreme Court.” That was when Palinmania was at its peak.  Oh, how the mighty have fallen:

Of concern to McCain’s campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin’s interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.

The Palin aide, after first noting how “infuriating” it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.

After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.

There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.

  • Palin on the Supreme Court? Somebody actually SAID that?
    That is mind-numbingly stupid.

Public radio used to do this song about being the King of Spain! THAT should be the McCain-Plain theme song!

Is it patronizing & paternal for McCain to appear with Palinon Couric’ show?,
To try & do damage control with Katy Couric after the Jr High lame interviews Palin has done????

    Its insulting to women.
Hillary Clinton would never have needed ANY man to come in to show her the ropes.

  • The Newsweek article, by noted DFH Dahlia Lithwick, was NOT intended to be a serious argument for putting Palin on the SCOTUS, but rather an intentionally ironic takedown of conservative arguments against so-called elitism and desire to populate the entire government with IDiotic fundie tools. Admittedly, it reads like a serious screed by a fundie hack, but it goes over the top even for that:

“It’s just that a court that once included governors and senators and former football stars is now overrun by an elite cadre of mostly male, mostly East Coast lawyers. If ever there were a branch of government crying out for varying life experiences, it’s the Supreme Court. And if any branch of government is in need of a mother of five who likes shooting wolves from helicopters, the court is it.”

  • I kinda felt bad for Harriet Miers too.

  • I’m sure she later regretted not mentioning the 2nd Amendment decision. Her life must be hell right now.

  • Going from Jr High to VP debates… yeeeeesh!

    And ON the Supreme Court?
    Borat’s Alaska?

  • The Supreme Court Newsweek article was a brilliant piece of satire by liberal commentator Dahlia Lithwick. It argues that the best way to take down individual liberties is by being a Supreme Court justice, and not a vice president. Hate abortion, gays, and science? Join the Supreme Court, you can do much more damage there than you could with an executive branch position.

Come on kids, keep up. We’re supposed to be the party that understands humor - what’s the point of being a democrat if you can’t enjoy a little satire?

  • bluJ, I agree. I loved what Maureen Dowd said about Palin and her cramming…

    “Drill baby drill!”

  • How about Morse v. Frederick?
    IT HAPPENED IN ALASKA!
I’m not saying…I’m just saying. Really?

  • Sarah Palin seems to differ from Michele Bachmann on gays (Bachmann’s position is that the only good gay is an ex-gay).

I continue to have concerns about the Katie Couric interview (especially her claims about Russia).

  • It’s a sad world when Politicians are able to build and advance their career and reputation by being stupid. When did we start electing and following people who at the very least were capable of hiding their true thoughts and ideas.
