How is it that Erik Paulsen has no message of his own. How can Erik expect to win a Congressional seat without talking about himself at all?

That's what I like about Ash. He tells the voters where he stands and lets the chips fall where they may. His positive message of change is what the voters of the 3rd CD deserve.

Madia: Courage to Change

C'mon, Plymouth Dem. Surely you jest. This election should be about the character and abilities of the candidate, and that is all. I know Madia has put his parents squarely in his campaign (hence, the first line in his stump speech and on his website) but this is about the candidates.

I will say, however, that I am surprised Madia is accepting help and campaign appearances from Nancy Pelosi. I'm sure people on this blog are fine with it, but the average 3rd CD resident isn't sending their Rep to DC to help pass the Pelosi agenda.

For as successful as Ramstad was, he was careful to distance himself from party leadership.

Yes..I am sure Madia was tailoring his speeches for the DFL endorsement. Democrats certainly like hearing about raising taxes on those making less than 250k.

Paulsen is in McCain desperation mode. I am sure the next step will be saying he is unamerican because he is from immigrant parents.

I've watched the campaigns and have reviewed the source info. You all are reaching on this one. Paulsen is right, he is only taking Madia's actual words. He's not making anything up.

You showed one clip. One of many. Madia has a gift for being able to tailor his message based on what an audience wants to hear. If you tailor enough... sooner or later is comes back to bite you. It is in this case.

Just compare one of the DFL primary debates to the one more recently that was the Chamber of Commerce debate. You hear two different Ashwin Madias. He knows that at the primary debate, he needs to demonstrate some liberal credentials. Then at the Chamber, he swears off liberalism like a plague because he knows the audience is pro-jobs and pro-business. That is all fine if you are taking your message and emphasizing different point. It doesn't work as well if you are actually changing the message.

Sometimes it is called agility. Sometimes it is called getting caught in your web.

Here is the link to the entire debate (59 minutes)

http://kstp.com/article/stories/S622655.shtml?cat=1

Or you can access it through KSTP's homepage (scroll down about halfway). I kept having to refresh it, so best of luck.

Paulsen is neck and neck with Norm Coleman on his stretching of the truth, out right lies, and misrepresentation of the facts and his own postions. Last night was more of the same, as he refused to answer direct questions, and tried to play his word games again. This tactic is not working with me or anyone else I know, and will ensure Paulsen a quick return to Target full time. Madia showed the composure we expect of our Congressman and will do us proud in Washington.

He stated that he voted for stem cell research. That was a lie...http://minnesota.publicradio.org/projects/ongoing/votetracker/issue_view.php?id=121#vote-291

He also stated that 97% of all of his fundraising has come from inside of Minnesota... yea right. All of those oil companies and insurance companies are based right here....

Aaron, is this the whole debate? http://kstp.com/article/stories/S623163.shtml?cat=1
