Let’s not talk about voting records, let’s not talk about veterans, let’s not talk about the bailout, and let’s not talk about that smirky grin Kline had when that woman made that offensive, ignorant race comment last Friday. Let’s talk about, um, congressional provisions:
Meanwhile, John Kline voted against the independent panel on ethics, voted against earmark reform in January 2007, and actually has been the beneficiary of earmarks many times before, as well as voting for earmarks that have nothing to do with Minnesotans. Now that Kline is an earmark, or congressional provisions protester, he refuses to support congressional provisions even if they help projects for the residents of Apple Valley, Lakeville and Eagan, for example.
Why is he talking so much about congressional provisions anyway? Does he not want to talk about his voting record with the Bush administration on the Iraq and the economy? I guess if I was John Kline, I wouldn’t.
Steve Sarvi is a solid, smart and independent guy that’s fighting for the people in CD2 (which I must remind, got the endorsement of both the DFL and the Independence Party). I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if he pulled off winning this one but he needs support to compete against Kline’s machine.
Update: The UpTake will be broadcasting the Sarvi v Kline debate live at 1:30 today.

what do you think Tim Penny is thinking in this picture????
I like the guy on the far right. The expression is priceless. It’s like he’s the only one who knows how bad the comment will look on the news.
Sorry, refresh error. Double post.
I almost feel sorry for Tim Penny. Almost.
I think that is Rich Stanek next to Penny. He is about the last guy who should be smiling while someone is making racist comments.
Good for McCain for telling her she was wrong.
John Kline is a hypocrite. He voted for the bridge to nowhere and every bit of Republican pork during the six years of total Republican control of Congress. Then when congress shifted to Democratic leadership Texan Kline gets religion and suddenly becomes against “pork”. Kline should be ashamed of himself.
Tim penny is thinking:
“I need a second Obama sign for my yard”
(yes, he has an Obama sign)
The sad thing is the views of Lady in Red are not that unique. My sister-in-law (who has a teaching degree) “knows” Obama is not only Muslim but Al-Qaeda and intends to turn the U.S. into a Muslim nation. The wife of my husband’s classmate “knows” that Obama is Muslim and just lying and saying he’s Christian, “like all Muslims do”, to get in power to take over the U.S. Her pastor has talked to two Muslims who “got out” and so it’s the truth. She also is a college graduate. They live 100 miles apart, one in the south Metro, the other north of the Cities, so are not in the same social circles.
Fear continues to rule as is the GOP way. That otherwise “educated” people could be so misinformed, brain washed or just plain stupid is frightening and saddening. People who believe this garbage are no different than Muslims polled after 9/ll who thought the U.S. bombed the Twin Towers.

Disgusted over bailout vote, ex-GOP leader enters Congress race
By Shannon Fiecke, Staff Writer
Until Friday, a campaign sign for Congressman John Kline was posted in the Chaska yard of Kevin Masrud.
Masrud, a network engineer, endorsed Kline at the Republican Congressional Convention. He and his children marched for him in the Chaska parade.
“I really like John,” Masrud said. “He was one of my heroes. I used to brag about him to my friends.”
But disgust over Kline and other top Republican candidates’ support for the $700 billion federal bailout bill led Masrud on Friday to resign his post on the Carver County GOP Board and wage a write-in campaign for Congress.
Masrud, who already has YouTube and Blogspot Web sites up and hopes the word will spread via e-mail, said he is running not only against Kline, but Democrat candidate Steve Sarvi, who would have also voted for the bailout package.
I see that piece of crap racist Rich Stanek sitting there smiling, too.
Hey Rich, baby talk baby talk.
integrity first -
I agreed with everything you said until you implied that this is a tactic that only one party uses. There are nutty right wingers and there are nutty left wingers. They both are ignorant and misinformed.
It is sad that voters can be so uneducated. Very unfortunate. That goes for this lady who thinks that Obama is in tight with the radical muslims. That also goes for the people who ACORN will round up on election day, drop off at the voting booth, with the simple instructions of “vote for ‘D’s”.
I wish every voter was truly educated. I have a great uncle who still votes Democrat because he liked Roosevelt. He assumes that any ‘D’ will do what Roosevelt did. I know of another older gentleman who will only vote Republican because Reagan cut taxes. They will probably not bother to learn too much about Obama or McCain. They’ve known how they are going to vote for 25 years.
I just posted this further comment about what a bad example of constitutional democracy this was for the Lakeville High School students:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/coleen-rowley/wrong-lesson-from-mccains_b_134343.html
John Kline held the only public Town Hall meeting he’s held since 2005 — actually after being pressured for weeks with a petition reflecting 700 signatures of district residents — at this same Lakeville high school. So there’s a good chance Kline is the one who arranged the McCain rally there. It’s unfortunate that the law enforcement and other public officials involved took their marching orders from these Bush Administration cronies instead of following the Constitution.
