Norm Coleman Took Campaign Cash From Saddam Hussein’s Lobbyist

Coleman sure does hang with some shady cats. From the DFL:

St. Paul (October 16, 2008) — In a shocking revelation this week, it was reported that William Timmons — a Washington lobbyist in the inner circles of the McCain campaign — lobbied for Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in an effort to help reduce international sanctions against his regime.

Monday’s story details how Timmons, who now serves on McCain’s transition team, helped lobby for Saddam with two other lobbyists who either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges for acting as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein’s government.

Norm Coleman’s campaign took $1,000 from William Timmons in July 2008.

DFL Party Spokesman Frank Benenati issued the following statement:

“Norm Coleman has a long history of deep-rooted ties to questionable lobbyists and special interests, but this one crosses the line. Saddam Hussein’s lobbyist should be the last one lining Norm Coleman’s pockets.

“We hope that Norm Coleman has the decency to return these funds. With this week’s news, Minnesotans now have a Senator who is sitting on money from indicted Senator Ted Stevens, convicted big oil executives, and Saddam Hussein’s advocate in Washington. You can’t make this stuff up.”

My guess is that he’ll keep this cash unless reporters ask about it and he’d only do it for political reasons. Coleman still hasn’t returned all the money from Ted Stevens’ PAC and VECO criminal executives. Is Saddam Hussein’s lobbyist worse that convicted, corrupt criminals?

If this is true, it no doubt crosses the line. American Citizens need to take back their government. http://www.davidcarlsonpolitics.com

It doesn’t matter whether it’s true or not. The Coleman campaign will call it “negative campaigning”, and refuse to address it. Looks like it’s October Surprise time…

See I told you the Hobo Senator would pick any pocket he could. Looks to me he resembles some 18th Century street urchin, Dickisonian character more than a modern Minnesota Senator. Can you imagine Amy Klobechar stooping that low for a contribution or taking fishing trips sponsored for lobbyists by Senator Sleaze Stevens of Alaska? When are Minnesota Republicans going to wake-up to the serpent they are supporting?

But but, they weren’t in trouble at the time I took their smelly money? See, this is exactly why we need to elect people like David Dillon and Dean Barkley. They don’t take money from special interest groups.
