Tinklenberg Added to Red to Blue!

I have been hearing rumblings for a few weeks now that Michele Bachmann’s poll numbers aren’t so rosy these days. Rumors abound that the Kissy Monster’s reelection is in serious jeopardy, and while I haven’t seen any private polling myself, those who have tell me that the CD 6 race is a lot closer than was anticipated just weeks ago.

Now it appears that the national party organizations have taken notice of the race. We’ve previously reported on the NRCC’s decision to throw Erik Paulsen under the bus in order to save Michele Bachmann. Now the DCCC has gotten into the act. They’ve added DFL candidate El Tinklenberg to their Red to Blue program, which should help him raise same last minute cash.

  • They may not “save” either one.

Who can forget Bachmann groping Bush?
Paulsen’s not exactly scintillating. That scam with the envelope he tried to pull on Almanac might
work in some backwater areas. Minnesota? Not so much.

  • Last poll I saw, about three weeks ago, had El at 27%. Any good news out there?

  • Yeah, I’ve heard Sarvi is polling better now than Tinklenberg. It’s weird to me that he’s been upgraded, but Sarvi hasn’t.

  • The only poll I know of is the Alliance for a Better Minnesota poll (I think it’s the one Alec mentioned) - which showed Bachmann with a significant lead - but this was a while ago. And at that time, Sarvi was doing better than Tinklenberg. I think the reason Tinklenberg has raised money is Michele Bachmann got lots of national exposure with all her appearances on Larry King etc. That energised her base - AND her opposition.

  • I’m glad to see that Tink is finally getting some attention. He has been running a great campaign here in the sixth district and he has a great shot of winning. I believe that those polls were put out quite a while ago when no one knew who he was. I’ve been doorknocking for him and it has been pretty much all positive support. Also, up until about a week ago there were hardly any Bachmann signs out. Hopefully that is a good sign.
