Sick and Un-Minnesotan: Michael Brodkorb Thinks 84 Year Old Stroke Victim’s Ballot Shouldn’t Count

Michael Brodkorb thinks its disgusting that the Franken campaign is fighting to make sure that the absentee ballot of an 84 year old Beltrami woman is counted.

Huh?

The woman’s absentee ballot was apparently rejected because her signature, which was altered when she had a stroke, didn’t make the signature the county had on file. The Franken campaign is trying to make sure that her ballot, along with potentially hundreds of others around the state, are counted.

So tell me Michael, why shouldn’t this woman’s vote count?  Why shouldn’t the Franken campaign fight on her behalf?

Beyond this particular voter, why should any legal voter wishes not be followed. I’m certain there was a Coleman counterpart to this Beltrami woman. I just hope that which ever way it goes, all valid votes are counted, Minnesota shows its’ good government reputation is valid and that this becomes the model for other states on how to do it.

I will admit that Coleman’s not unexpected shenanigans are sort of disturbing, but hey that is real politics. I figure his reputation will be so damaged by this whining that he will never befoul our political landscape after this. Do you honestly think that any election judge of either party is happy with the way he has besmirched their work? All this BS has been against the very bedrock of Minnesota politics, the local officials. He has basically beshit the bed for the next time he goes outstate to get support from these people.

Even if he wins does he expect DFLers to do anything but target him for criticism on everything from who has lunch with to which bills he votes for… with special focus on how he opposes President Obama and fails to bring home the bacon because he is a weak minority party member.

As the son of someone with a disability, this disgusts me.

Well, Del - did you really expect anything different, from “The Fourth Most Corrupt Senator” - or his “supporters”?

When you are the kind of Republican who thinks that the most important issue, above and beyond any other, is winning elections, and if you believe that the end justifies the means, then you probably will act like Michael B. Brodkorb.

With clear evidence that negative campaigning and political dirty tricks really don’t work so well anymore, Michael and many like him continue to continue to do that, thinking their negative tactics still work. Is that all the Republicans have?

    Have they no shame?

EVERY legitimate vote should be counted.

  6. 6 6 Bloody P

Of course it should. I mean, c’mon.

Silence from Brodkorb…no surpise. Too bust harassing low level campaign workers, or hiding in the bushes somewhere to spy.

Here’s the really sick party about this story: Team Franken was lying about this woman’s ballot being rejected because of her signature; http://tinyurl.com/6e9ptw

It’s clear, all legitimate votes should be counted and that’s what the Franken team is trying to accomplish.
If a candidate “wins” by disenfranchinsing legitimate voters, how is that the will of the people?

Michael Brodkorb led a fight against those who suffered from Crohn’s disease having access to restrooms. Why is is surprising that he wants to take the vote from stroke patients? If you’re not white, able-bodied, male, rich and an obnoxious jerk, you should shut up and die.

Hey Mike, do you not have the stones to link directly to your site? TinyURL is for those with something to hide.

  12. 12 12 Really?

Is it just me, or has this website, which used to be fairly rational as far as lefty sites go, gone on a irrational personal vendetta against Mr Brodkorb? Putting his name in the headlines twice in thre days? His name in the first paragraph of another story? Calling him out in the comments?

What is with you guys? Taking a play out of the playbook of others by creating a scapegoat for all of your ills?

oh Really, everything here is written strictly for your viewing pleasure. Got anymore boring, useless, uninsightful dribble to add? I Really, Really, Really want to read more intelligent banter from you. REALLY.

  14. 14 14 Pathetic...

This whole this is bordering on moronic. Up to this point the righty blogs have been hyperventilating over nothing, spreading innuendo and casting doubt on the whole election process while spreading the stupid lies about ballots in cars. Until now, the Franken camp has kept to a pretty basic message about simply counting the votes. Now we get this stupidity from the Franken camp. Why can’t they just let the recount process take place? Why irritate hard-working election officials around the State? These people have enough to deal with. The only thing either side is going to accomplish is to give Minnesota a black eye. Good luck finding people willing to help run elections.

This story is not true - the woman’s ballot was not disallowed because of her handwriting. http://www.minnpost.com/braublog/2008/11/13/4612/frankens_turn_at_false_storytelling

So will MNPublius issue a correction? At least the facade of team Franken and Democrats trusting our election system has come down. If you believe we have a good system in this state and trust Ritchie to implement a fair recount the lawsuit based on a rumor sure was a funny way to show it.

Why don’t both campaigns sit down, shut-up and let the recount happen. There are going to be mistakes, votes not counted, miscounted, and improperly accounted for. We simply don’t have a perfect system. What is important at this point is that every vote be treated the same so as a whole the errors are evenly distributed.

Silly me, I almost forgot that neither cares about anything more than winning. As such they will use any anecdote they can find to support their own irrational narrative. The absolute dishonestly that underlies everything out of both candidates and campaigns would be comical if one of them wasn’t going to end up being our senator.

Statute 203B.12 Subd. 7 says:The names of voters who have submitted an absentee ballot return envelope to the county auditor or municipal clerk may not be made available for public inspection until the close of voting on election day.
So Franken should have a list of absentee voters, the problem is determining which were rejected.
Rejected absentees are supposed to be notified if the ballot is received 5 days before election day.
Absentee signatures do not have to match, they only have to be “legitimate”.
If they had access to the voter rolls, they could check every absentee name to see if their name had been been initialed “A.B.”, if not, the absentee ballot was not counted.

    Zach,

I asked a question based on facts. You called me names and didn’t answer the question.

No further explanation needed. Your character is noted.
