This is Pretty Great

From Newsweek:

The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, “I don’t consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, ‘You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.’ So when Brian Williams is asking me about what’s a personal thing that you’ve done [that’s green], and I say, you know, ‘Well, I planted a bunch of trees.’ And he says, ‘I’m talking about personal.’ What I’m thinking in my head is, ‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can’t solve global warming because I f — -ing changed light bulbs in my house. It’s because of something collective’.”

I am so glad Barack Obama is the next President of the United States.

  • Obama sees bullshit as bullshit, and doesn’t easily fall into media traps.

This is my favorite moment from the Dem primary debates:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ802POn8N4

Russert: “…The three astronauts of Apollo 11 who went to the moon back in 1969, all said that they believe there is life beyond Earth. Do you agree?”

Obama: “You know, I don’t know. And I don’t presume to know. What I know is there is life here on Earth. And — and that we’re not attending to life here on Earth. We’re not taking care of kids who are alive and unfortunately are not getting health care. We’re not taking care of senior citizens who are alive and are seeing their heating prices go up. So, as president, those are the people I will be attending to first.”

Perfect. He sidesteps an obvious trap and turns it to his advantage.

  • the tally accordingto the SOS is down to 338. making the advantage closer to .01% It is updated hourly btw.
