Let’s be very clear - a cap and tade systenm will raise costs for ALL goods and services for ALL Americans, and will increase the costs of creating and maintaining jobs in America. Just what we need in an economic downturn, don’t you think?
I am absolutely shocked, but not really surprized, that the man who wants to reach across the aisle and bring all types into his administration has gone completely off to the left on the issues of climate change as one of it’s first issue. Looks like Obama is quickly paying back his green lobbyist friends.
Oh, and about his promise to not employee lobbyists…..oopsie…from the NYT..
“I want you to hear something President-elect Barack Obama said just about a year ago:
“I am running to tell the lobbyists in Washington that their days of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded my campaign. They won’t work in my White House.”
Just this weekend The New York times published a list of names — a rather long list of names of people — who are working on Obama’s transition team or who have accepted jobs in his White House who are either former lobbyists or who have close ties to lobbyists.
The Times reports that some of those people were lobbying as recently as this year. ”
HOW SOON HE FORGETS
1) I am flabbergasted that you are absolutely shocked. Truly I am.
2) Your spelling is atrocious.
3) The lobbyists referred to in the change.gov policy won’t be working in the white house. They will be working on the transition team. I challenge you to find one lobbyist on the transition team who’s employment violates the policy on the change.gov website. Furthermore, I challenge you to find one current federal lobbyist who has accepted a job in Obama’s white house.
4) You are a troll and a jackass, spouting republican talking points instead of engaging in good faith debate.
There you go, calling names again. Says a lot about a man’s character.
Actually, my typing is what is atrocious. My spelling is exemplary.
Talking points? Read your point #3 and tell me who is spouting talking points.
” Just what we need in an economic downturn, don’t you think?”
You bootlickers are nothing, if not predictable.
” Just what we need with the economy shaky, don’t you think?”
” Just what we need with the economy barely recovering, don’t you think?”
” Just what we need with the economy humming, don’t you think?”
“Don’t you think” is the ONLY thing you got “right”, pal.
Ya (cheney)in’ bootlicker.
None of the lobbyists are working in areas that they lobbied in the last year. Obama has created the strictest ethics rules for a presidential transition.

By the way…does “really” live in Eden Prairie? Did he vote for the lobbyist we are now stuck with for our state rep?! I am sure he would have been very upset by his party endorsing a paid Washington lobbyist for that job, and would have worked hard to elect the honest, hardworking engineer who ran against her.
@Really
You pay now, or you pay later. The only economic winner in the polluting game is the person whose profit is increased by cutting corners and inefficiently utilizing energy resources. This person will take the profits and buy a posh tropical island (maybe literally, maybe figuratively) and stick the rest of us with the true costs of pollution: the cleanup, the health care and disability resulting from an unhealthy environment and so on.
When hearing arguments like, I always remember touring the Alaska pipeline terminal facilities in Valdez fifteen or twenty years ago. One stop was a resource recovery facility where ballast water from oil tankers was cleaned and the petroleum recovered. The Alyeska tour guide honestly and proudly told the story of how her company fought the environmentalists on the grounds that dumping polluted ballast water into Prince William Sound was the only economically feasible alternative; building a recovery facility was a dead waste of money. The environmentalists won. The facility was built. Once built, Alyeska ran the recovery operation so efficiently that, even those long years ago, the facility had paid for itself and had provided the company with $10,000,000 of profit.
Those damn environmentalists and government regulators!
@ really
If the moron you voted for TWICE for president hadn’t driven the economy off the cliff, you wouldn’t have to be so concerned right now. Too bad you helped your fellow wingnuts screw our nation, eh peanut?
LoJagOff,
See, I can call names too. Feels good to get that off my chest. Does that make me as smart as you? If it doesn’t let me schedule a frontal lobotomy to make it a fair fight.
If you can read minds and predict whom I voted for, you should really be running a 1-900 line. 1900-IAMAFNLOON would suit you fine.
BTW, that moron happened to get the unemployment rate blow Billary and grew the economy after the Clinton-Gore recession of 2000-2001 and after the greatest attack on US soil.
SWD - difference without a distinction. Back to the talking points again.
Also, could not care less about Eden Prairie.
TwoPutt - show me economic data that shows where massive tax increases in an economic downturn increased economic activity/GDP. Show me where that plan worked better than a tax cut plan to spur economic activity /GDP.
Since this is the only Obama post I can find on this board right now, I’ll just say this:
For a guy who ran on “Change”, the slogan should have been “Change Back”. As in to 1999 and the Clinton administration.
I thought this all was going to be new, fresh, and different. Even I had a tinge of silver lining in the McCain loss thinking this would be an administration unlike one I had seen before and gotten sick of. Turns out this is simply going to be the “Obama and the Democratic Establishment” show.
Really?
I won’t let you schedule me for a frontal lobotomy, so the fight will never be fair.
If you expect ANYBODY here to believe you didn’t vote for bush you’re fuggin’ crazy.
But obviously you’re out of touch with reality. The unemployment rate was 4.0% in 12/99, and it is 6.5% now.
Ooh! The dow is below 8,000. That’s good, right?
Good for me. I shorted it.
Hmmmm kind of tough to short the whole Dow but hey with Republicans still in charge it isn’t a bad bet.
Indices, Spiders, basket of Dow 10, 20, 50, 100. Selling Puts, Calls, etc. Not hard at all if you know what you are doing. Which most Democrat Economic Advisers don’t becuase they are blinded by the “social engineering aspect” of economic policy and not the economic impact of economic policy.
Really?
The number one reason the Republican party is in ruin is PEOPLE LIKE YOU.
Great Job!
You are, in fact, the most typical frightened right wing guy I’ve seen on MN Publius in a long time.
Keep being so exemplary.
Really how do you go from being stupid fuck insisting you will short the dow in one post, get called on being stupid fuck and then turn around and act like you said something completely different 3 posts prior? Oh I forgot, you are a Republican so actual truth means absolutely nothing to you and yours. Reality does have a liberal bias.
