Uncounted Absentee Ballots Will Be Reviewed

From Team Franken’s Blog:

In a major development toward counting improperly rejected absentee ballots, the Secretary of State’s office today directed county auditors and county and city election officials to review all previously-rejected absentee ballots and determine whether they fall under one of the four legal reasons for rejecting a ballot. The absentee ballot review will begin on December 8.

I don’t think this is unexpected, but it does counter earlier news that those ballots may not be checked out. Overall, this is good news for everyone that wants every legally cast ballot to be counted in this recount. More at blog.alfranken.com.

  • Boy is team Franken getting desperate. The basic point of the suggestion is
that since it’s likely that team Franken is going to do a court challege you might
as well get ready know to answer how many ballots are subject to a possible lawsuit.

The Franken campaign is saying there might be a 1,000 improper rejections. What if
it’s just 200 or less? The Coleman lead has been growing during the recount and you
folks are running out of ballots to get counted!

Team Coleman has run one of the most desparate, non-issue campaigns for a Senate seat that I have ever seen. The fact that Norm Coleman is desparately clinging on to his so-called victory after his repeated smears of Al Franken should tell you, Walter, what a weak, partisan candidate Norm Coleman actually is.

In addition, Walter, you Republican trolls are committing pathetic acts of desparation all over the internet as president elect Obama takes office that are already attempting to undermine his administration.

    Walter Hanson, it is
    you
and your fellow trolls who are desparate.

If it was Norm Coleman who was losing by a couple hundred votes,
    you
would be commenting completely different partisan rhetoric than
    you
    are this time, pally!

Coleman’s lead has been “growing” due to a plethora of frivolous challenges.

When this shakes out, and ALL LEGAL BALLOTS have ben counted, you will likely be eating crow. If not, at least ALL LEGAL BALLOTS will have been counted, which is the important thing…though you don’t understand that.

Go jump in a lake. Preferably one with a frozen surface, and a small hole.

  • Heres some comments from Walter Hanson back in August. I am posting this as a good example of how the grown adult, Walter Hanson, thinks. This is his response to an article wondering why Obama was not winning by a wider margin.

    Wrote Walter:

“Excuse me but I think you have overlooked the problems:

Since “Dumbo” got the Democrat Party nomination the price of gasoline has become an issue. His solutions:

    * Have a tire gauge. Wow how is that going to increase American production to decrease the price. It won’t.

    * Tax the oil companies with a windfall profit tax to give people another $1,000. There is a previous Democrat President (so much for Dumbo being the candidate of new ideas) and that idea helped to cause dougle digit inflation and the real worse economy in the last fifty years.

The man refuses to visit our troops and he wants to blame the Pentagon for why he doesn’t want to visit the troops.

Considering the circumstance it’s a miracle that 40% of the American people still want to vote for him.”

Great Job, Walter Hanson. Do you stand by your remarks?

  • Franken is such a sore loser. Whatever dignity he had before this election, he has now lost during this recount process.

Not even Democrats want him in Washington (NBC News’ Chuck Todd). Why doesn’t he just accept the fact that, while by a slim margin, HE LOST! Have some class and concede.

  • How can Franken challenge it in court? and how/why would it go to the Senate. I like Franken, I voted for Franken, but a hand recount is pretty hard to challenge.

  • PB

Franken, and democrats in general, have respect for the law. I understand that you don’t share those values. Sorry.

  • I’m getting a little tired of this snide bullshit coming about the recount. That’s you Walter and that twit columnist at the Tribune and her attempt at humor. Bad writing and even worse thinking to insult the donated work of hundreds. You would think that these people would have more appreciation for the rights of citizens.

I have been involved with the recount over 5 days in NE Minneapolis. It has been an open and transparent process dominated by decent and dedicated Minnesotans. It has been cordial between the two parties and in fact is an example of both parties working together for good government. No matter who wins, we have worked together to find out the will of the people. We are defending the democratic rights of Minnesotans and do not need these foolish comments.

If nothing more this has proven that we need to improve our counting process to be more accurate and to make sure that proper absentee ballots are not disavowed through errors by the election officials.

  •  —  — -
Its been a slow news cycle for the trolls.

All that wind - and nowhere to go.

  • My first post used the word “blow,”
but that seemed to present untoward images.

  • I’m beginning to wonder how many times this will have to be said.

If someone absentee voted and their ballot was rejected due not to an error on the voter’s part, but because of a mistake by election judges or others, those votes should count. Even if it is less than 100 votes state-wide, they should count. Even if it has no tangible effect on the recount, they should count.
