    I will never watch American Idol again. Even Kris Allen believed that Adam deserved to win. This is ridiculous. Adam is obviously the better singer and I can’t believe I wasted 2 hours of my life for those results.

        Adam did not win because some people in Arkansaw, with the help
        of AT&T used speed dialing machines to sway the vote in Kris’s favor.
        AT&T stated that they used only two machines at 2 parties. But they could have used many more. AT&T did not let Adam’s fans use
        the speed dialing machines. How unfair. Adam was robbed. But in
        spite of this cheating Adam will be more successful than Kris
        because only Adam has a terrific voice. Adam has the whole.
        package. Kris’s voice is weak. There is no comparison.

      I agree that Adam was robbed! Simon Cowell is not stupid though, he knows he has a SuperStar on his hands. Adam is Elvis, Prince, Queen, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson all rolled in one!!! I can’t wait for Adam’s first album to come out.

      The votes came in and he lost. Flippin get over it. You didn’t want Kris to win, but that doesn’t mean that others didn’t. Adam does have an amazing voice. It is also one that is quite unmarketable. Of course, I’m sure you disagree with that. Mark my words, Kris will outsell him as far as albums are concerned. Kris is just as talented, and just as true to himself. Just because he can’t crack glass with his voice does not indicate that he should have lost.

    Yeah, he was definitely robbed. Too bad, he is a true original and the most exciting thing we’ve seen in music in years. Hopefully he’ll be hugely successful like some of the other non-idol winners have been, i.e., Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson.

    I am very disappointed that Adam did not win tonight. I am in total shock, as a matter of fact. When you have pastors and the Bill O’Reilly’s of the world calling Christians to the phones not to vote for Kris, but to vote against Adam, then this USA is a very sick USA. I for one will not watch American Idol ever again. Some of the posts on the AI website are pretty intense, stating that people can vote 3,000 times for a fee through a company that will do it for them, etc. If this is true, then AI needs to limit one phone call per phone number. I challenge all true Adam supporters not to watch American Idol ever again. I will look forward to buying any CD that Adam puts out because he is truly MY American Idol.

    With all due respect to Kris, WTF was America thinking? Adam was heads and tails above anything that sang over the last 9 years of AI. Mark my words, Adam will become an important piece of American iconculture as Elvis, as The Beatles, as KISS, as Aerosmith.. He will set the new standard for Rock. America, you got it wrong tonight.

      It is not the fault of the IDOL enterprise, but the small minded public. Adam will be one of the biggest stars and one that all ages will be entertained by for years to come. Kris will have a career in music, but does not have any star power.

      This has been one of the best seasons ever on the show and I don’t want to miss seeing who is discovered next.

    I respectfully disagree with all y’all. Adam is talented, no doubt, but his songs were all quite shouty. Singing high at the right moment. For the majority of the song, the majority of every song, it gets a bit old.

    Kris may not be amazing, but I’d much rather listen to his style of music. That’s just a personal music style preference thing. I can completely understand how some people would like Adam over Kris, but I don’t think you need to turn it into a political thing. The week before, Adam and Kris were nearly tied, and I just think more people who liked Danny voted for Kris than Adam, because Danny and Kris had similar music styles.

      In addition, Kris & Danny had a similar demographic, and their demographic turned out more than Adam’s.

      It’s like any other election, you have to get your votes out to win.

    I agree with Minnesota Bulldog. Adam is talented, but, his screaming got old, fast. In my opnion, Adam is a great front man for a band, he is all smoke, glitter and showmanship. Adam is all about the performance, his performances for the most part were very theatrical. Kris Allen on the other hand was real, he was a true musician playing piano and guitar. I still say the performance of the year was Kris Allen’s version of Ain’t no Sunshine. I personally think that Kris Allen is a true solo artist and will have a very successful career and maybe Adam Lambert will star in Rockstar 2, oh, wait, even the character in that movie switched to a more Kris Allen style of music.

    It was stated last week that only a million votes seperated the top two (Adam and Kris). With only a million votes seperating Adam and Kris last week and Danny being the one voted off, did anyone really think that the people that were voting for Danny would now vote for Adam? Not a chance.

    Lastly, I will say that Adam had a better range and better vocal control, but the display was tiring already. The style of Adam I think has a smaller market while Kris’ style is far more marketable for a much wider audience. Kris may have had the most votes and deserves the win. I can guarantee that Adam had the most votes within his niche market. Kris’ market is just much greater.

      I disagree with poolhalljunkie. Adam’s “screaming” is part of Adam’s
      style of singing. Many singers do that, the good ones. Adam is able to
      reach many notes, high, and low and hold them. Kris on the other hand, cannot reach or hold even one high note. That’s what makes Kris’s songs
      so boring. There are many other singers that sound like Kris. Adam style
      of singing makes songs sound much more interesting and unforgettable.
      Adam’s voice is stronger, and he has much more control. Adam has a much
      better voice that Kris. Simon Crowell and Kris, himself, did not believe
      that Kris won. Simon was shocked. Adam has the whole package. Adam has a great voice; he is very handsome, and is a good entertainer.

      Leaving morality and sexual preferences aside, we need to rate Adam
      only on his singing ability. He is the best singer that ever sang on
      American Idol. There will not a singer like Adam for a long long time
      on American Idol. Adam was robbed of his much deserved win. AT&T, I hope
      that you will not get away with it. The people who used speed dialing
      machines to sway the vote for kris I hope that you will not get away
      with it either.

      I agree except for the part where you said Adam overdid it. I thought he was terrific all the way around. Adam has a stage presense that glues your eyes to the screen. As far as Kris is concerned, he’s ok but performance wise, he doesn’t have the chrisma to sustain a live show. In a few years, people will be saying, “Kris who?”

    You guys are all idiots. Adam lost fair and square and not because of homophobia. The last three contestants were Lambert, Allen, and Gokey. Let’s estimate for the sake of argument that they each split the fan base close to evenly, each having 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3. When Gokey was voted off it is HIGHLY LIKELY that the Gokey fans quickly began voting for Kris, since Kris’s style and background is much like Gokey’s. This would give Kris 2/3 to Adam’s 1/3 of the AI fan base. Kris would easily win if he pulled most of Danny Gokey’s former fans. Do the simple math people and stop blaming the loss on homophobia!

    It bothers me so much what happened to Adam. This is a a sick, unjust result b/c Kris truly effed up that finale song Kara wrote and is no where near Adam’s league. He had so business even being in a competition with Adam. That is so screwed up if Bill O’Reilly told people not to vote for Adam! But I feel Adam has too much edge and quality for a weakass show like Idol. Obviously, he’s got he “chops” to make it in this business whereas Kris doesn’t have that enduring quality. He’ll probably be more like a flash in the pan. I think Adam’s going to do really well anyway but it sucks that he was discriminated against.

    Minnesota, it’s hard to say it wasn’t turned into a political thing when Bill O’Reilly got out the vote against Adam. No disrespect to Kris, who is talented and seemingly a real good guy, but I’m afraid that it was at least partially a red-state war against a gay, glam Californian.

    Adam Lambert is sooo much better in every single way than Kris Allen. (Remind me that this is a SINGING competition right?)
    The American Idol Voting System is also quite a stupid letdown…No limits on voting ? No Age Limit?

    If 1000 ppl like Adam and each vote 10 times…and 10 ppl like Kris but each vote 100000+ times…then Kris still wins ? WOW!

    Anyway…just my opinion…ADAM LAMBERT was ROBBED…HE’s the TRUE AMERICAN IDOL WINNER !!!

      I agree Adam Lambert was ROBBED. AT&T loaned speed dialing machines to
      Kris Allen’s fans, and also trained them on the machines. They did not
      loan machines to Adam Lambert’s fans. Although AT&T stated that they
      only gave out two machines at two Kris Allen Arkansas parties, we will never know exactly how many machines were used. Adam’s fans should write
      to AT&T, and ask them to show us proof of how many speed dialing machines
      they used to help Kris’s fans sway the vote in Kris’s favor.

      Adam’s fans should also write to American Idol, and ask how many votes
      Adam and Kris received. The reports will show if the votes exceeded the population of Kris’s hometown.
      I feel that there is something has to be done.
      What do you think. Please reply.

    all i can say is that my mom and I were both heartbroken over results tonight. We really bonded over watching Adam every week. he gave me goosebumps and even brought tears to our eyes! it may sound silly, but he really moved me. I know he sang from his heart and as somebody who was “different” his whole life, I was so happy for him to stand up and be a true individual. Kris is a sweet, safe, aw-shucks, all-american pop-star. He knows he didn’t deserve to win. I wish I could be more eloquent and organize my thoughts, but I’m pretty shocked still and well, I guess I am speechless… LOVE YOU ADAM!

    Last night was the first and last AI episode I’ll ever watch.

    It was great to see that Simon didn’t even get to his feet to cheer Kris when the rest of the judges jumped up.

    Kris is boring and will be playing the county fair circuit in a year, just like that other guy and that one girl from a few years ago. Adam is the whole package - a fun to watch, entertaining rock star.

    I can’t say that there aren’t some people out there who voted against Adam because of homophobia and the The Commandments Of Bill O’Reilly — and if anyone did, shame on them — but I really think the musical factor was far more important. Adam appealed to a particular audience who likes the sort of glam rock performances he deliver. Not everybody does. I think Adam would put on a great performance at a live concert, but as to who I’d rather listen to on the radio, it’s Kris.

    To pull this into a political context, think of the finale as a DFL endorsement contest. In a way, this is a preview of what we can expect to see for the gubenatorial endorsement at the state convention. Through the balloting, a few candidates will eventually rise to the top, knocking out the others. What happens when it gets down to three candidates, two who are similar and another who appeals to a different group of delegates, and they are all splitting the vote fairly evenly? Well, eventually the bottom one of the three will need to drop out, and it’s likely to be one of the two that appeal to similar audiences. So who would you predict would win the endorsement? The person most similar to the person who just dropped out, because that person will get more of the delegate votes of that candidate who just dropped out.

    Same thing here: Kris and Danny were pretty similar, Adam appealed to a different group of Idol watchers, and when Danny was gone, Kris got more of his votes. If Kris had been voted off last week, I would have expected Danny would have won.

      Adam is not all glam rock. Think about his Mad World or Tracks of My Tears performances. He can give very soft, tender performances of ballads and is wonderfully versatile. He could perform competently at any type of music you present to him.

    Yeah, the “keep calling in to register votes” thing is somewhat bogus, and just makes it seem like a lot more people are actually watching to help with advertising dollars, I’m sure. I think it would be difficult to actually create a one-person, one-vote thing. If they could figure a way to do so, it would also eliminate the problem of auto-dialers. To some extent, the current system tests the intensity of support each person has. If somebody really, really likes someone and is willing to dial in multiple times to register support, that may translate into a greater willingness to spend money on albums and such. I can’t imagine a political system like that where we got to vote multiple times for a particular candidate to show much we support them.

    It’s just American Idol, remember. We’ve got much more important things to worry about, like the impending collapse of the medical system as we know it thanks to King “Go-It-Alone” Tim.

    Wow, where did all of these commenters come from? I have to confess, I don’t watch Americon Idol but I did enjoy the old English gal a few weeks ago. Do all of you read the political comments and not respond? Having been young once I understand the importance of music in your lives but these religious zealots are doing more than just influencing the outcome of AI. Your future is being decided people like that. Jump in and join the conversation.

    As CMan pointed out, you did notice that the gay guy was attacked by the right. I don’t think we can pin that one on Bush though. More likeley Karl Rove, James Dobsen, Bill O’Reilly, Faux News, Sean Hannity, Ralph Reed and the born again crowd. Bush is ignorant but not mean. These other folks are using religion to push an agenda that almost destroyed our country and your futures. My thanks to those of you who helped to get Obama elected. That decision will pay you dividends for many years to come.

    All the people complaining about AI and saying they’ll never watch it again are idiots. Don’t blame the show because the majority of Americans have a different opinion. It’s not like the show didn’t try (maybe just not hard enough for some of you), from the Katy Perry cape to the judges advertising Adam on talk shows they were definetly pulling for Adam. Most of the people that I talk to that were fed up with Adam said the exact same thing about why, his shrill voice was all he had, from the screams to the over the top theatrics. Looks like it made the majority of Americans cringe. I’m not sure why suddenly everyone has lost the ability to distinguish fact from opinion. Let me help: opinon - Adam was a one note pony who showed no variety in his singing, fact - Kris is the new American Idol. Its not quantum mechanics.

      Adam was a “one note pony”????? OMIGOD, you are tone deaf then. There is absolutely NO COMPARISON between Adam and Kris when it comes to vocal range. Adam has the entire package and he will be a MEGA SUCCESS. I truly believe Adam is a reincarnated Elvis Presley. I have to admit there were times I wondered why Adam would incorporate some of those high notes in particular songs, but I downloaded all his songs from ITunes and now I appreciate them more than ever. Adam can sing ANY song and any type of genre. People who don’t appreciate his music are used to listening to Christian radio stations or the likes of Barry Mannilow. Adam is truly ICONIC and will make music history, I am positive of that.

    Sorry i should have said one trick pony not one note. By that I mean that every song he sung to me sounded alike. For instance find a note that he held that didn’t contain his much vibrato as he could muster. Part of being a musical artist is knowing not just how to use these vocal devices, but when not to. If America wanted extreme vibrato whitney houston would still have a job. It always seemed Adam was over-trying and therefore came with the same overdone shrillness every song (I will admit he killed mad world the first time he did it, that was the best that song had ever been sung). I will say that Adam will be a huge star, but it won’t be on the radio. I would say he right now already has millions of dollars worth of contracts from every major Broadway production company wanting him to star in their musicals. So while he does have enormous talent, he just wasn’t America’s pop idol.

    I believe Adam should have won…And part of me has to wonder if he didn’t win because of his possibly being gay…Cuz ppl couldn’t even get thru to vote for him, so how could the final tally be a fair and accurate one?? If you notice…the same could be true with former Idol contender — Clay Aiken…There was accusations made that ppl couldn’t get thru to place their vote for him, so how could it have been a fair tally when all is said and done at the end??

    Perhaps there is something that won’t allow gay people to win American Idol…Which is BOGUS. And Kris IS a great guy…but he isn’t as talented as Adam…Adam has a better voice, he sings better, has killer stage presence and is an all around exceptional performer…So I 100% AGREE with this posting, that Adam did get ROBBED…And Kris knew it too! Bloody shame I tell ya!!

    Adam hit every song with an exciting performance. Kris did a good job on “ain’t no sunshine”, and that was his only memorable performance. Boring. Adam brought a whole new level of excitement to the show and AI should only hope that it changes the long and drawn out format of show to attract more artistic performers like Adam. Sure he wails, he has a powerful voice and he sang songs that allowed him to use it. What is the point of a competition if the contestant doesn’t show his abilities. There are plenty of successful rockers who would love to have the strength and accuracy that Adam displayed. Kris knew Adam deserved the title. He should have rejected it on the spot. Now that would have been worth watching.

    sway the votes in Kris’s favor. Speed dialing machines are not allowed according to the American Idol rules. Throughout the whole contest, it was
    always Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey. They were the best singers. I wonder
    if Kris fans used the speed dialing machines to eliminate Danny Gokey also.
    We will never know how many machines were used and in how many places.
    AT&T only admitted to using two machines in two parties. I do not believe
    them because they already lied. Adam was the best of all the contestants,
    and should have won by a landslide. AT&T, American Adol, and Kris Allen’s
    fans robbed Adam of his much deserved, much earned title. Adam’s fans
    should not watch American Idol again, and also discontinue their AT&T
    service if possible.
