“All you moderates out there, y’all come. I mean, that’s the message,” Steele said at a news conference. “The message of this party is this is a big table for everyone to have a seat. I have a place setting with your name on the front.”
But just to be clear, the Republican party isn’t actually going to move toward the mainstream to address moderates’ concerns:
“Understand that when you come into someone’s house, you’re not looking to change it. You come in because that’s the place you want to be.”
This must be why Steele got elected. He has a true vision, in which the Republican party gets lots of new votes without actually doing any work to attract them. Unfortunately for him, though, the voters made it clear in 2006 and 2008 that the GOP is not where they want to be. Steele, like most Republicans, just doesn’t get it — despite the party’s apparent soul searching, they’re mainly looking for a way to add a facade to their extremist, out-of-touch policies in order to trick moderates into voting for them.

Dear moderates: Vote for us because now that you’ve been hoodwinked and you see your country slipping into Obamalism, you have a chance to make ammends.
C”Rush”,
hoodwinked
You dittoheads not only own it in the eyes of the American people, you embrace it.
Great Job!
C”Rush”
“Obamalism”
Lols
Am I an Obamaist?
Dear moderates: Now that it is clear the republicans only want to use you for their craven anti-American agenda, perhaps you’ll STAY AWAKE enough to vote in keeping with your own goddamn interests for a few fucking years.
Must have struck a nerve. Feel better?
C”Rush”
“Must have struck a nerve. Feel better?”,/i>
I must have struck a nerve with you.
Feel better?
Project much?
You give yourself too much credit…far too much. I perceive you as being completely irrelevant.
According to you and your ilk, Cman, a 200 times differential between the ultra wealthy and the middle class is socialism, because that is the stability that we enjoyed between 1935-1979-ish. Now, as in 1929, we have a 900 times differential, which you cannot see as a massive redistribution. I guess the wealthy having 200 times as much as you and me is just not enough for them. I, for one, think a 200 times multiplier is just fine and capitalistic enough, whereas 900 times differential starts encroaching on a plutocracy/economic royalty.
Steele = tool
Alec, how do you reconcile the fact that you and I are both middle class, and share the same income “disparity” (whatever that truly means, I am not sure), yet I do not think wealth redistribution is either ethical or fiscally prudent, yet you do? I take what you are saying to mean that you think the wealthy in this country should be solely responsible for the costs of the stimulus package, the bank bailout, the auto bailout etc…and we aren’t or shouldn’t contribute?
What has to exist in someones mind that lends them to believe that one class of citizen is responsible for the debts of all?
THanks
Solely responsible? Has anybody ever advocated for the rich to pay ALL the taxes and the rest of us pay NONE? How Straw man of you.
Don, you say that you don’t like wealth redistribution (I’m paraphrasing). How is the rich having lower tax rates than the middle class NOT wealth redistribution? You and your ilk have been raving about how tax cuts for the rich is the solution, yet you conveniently overlook the fact that you’re advocating exactly what you claim to be against.
I think what you really mean is that you do not think wealth redistribution that flows downward is either ethical or fiscally prudent.
But if it flows upward, that’s hunky-dory!
Dittohead.
Pete,
It’s all strategic. He’s a chess player!
Alec, you mis-spelled that, it’s “Strategery”.
