For the rest of this year, I’ll just use an accounting shift to raise money. It’s such an easy fix to the budget, we all should do it. It’s simple: effective immediately, I will stop paying my bills. This should allow me to stop having to work so hard; maybe I’ll even take a vacation. I’ll pay the money back once my situation improves.
I’m confident this won’t have any impact on my credit score. After all, if we can do it with the state budget, it must be responsible!

Jeff — Are you doing this because your other family members are being totally unreasonable in helping you to find another solution?
Nah, its because even though I can get a better paying job, I am not taking it because I would have to work with Democrats.
C”Rush”,
“Jeff — Are you doing this because your other family members are being totally unreasonable in helping you to find another solution?”
Are you saying Democrats are unreasonable?
I realize this is off-topic, but what is the point of comments when they require “moderation” for hours and hours before being displayed?
I’m giving up.
Jeff,
To emulate the Republicans you need to kick Grandma out of the nursing home and when your kids get sick tell them that they should have been more careful when they picked their parents.
Jeff -
Perhaps you should take the opposite approach, the one that the family next door with a different policital bent will do. Just keeping spending on the things you want to spend on, and then go to your boss and tell him that he’s giving you 10% raise, effective immediately. Never mind that you aren’t doing more work, you didn’t get a promotion, market conditions suggest that you should be paid lower, not higher. Never mind all that. In this scenario, either your boss gives you the raise or he will go to jail!
What? You’re boss is having hard times too? Who cares! He still has to give you a raise!!! He must have more money in his account, and it is rightfully yours. Plus, he is a businessman, and businessmen are villians and leeches on society, so it is morally just to take his money. It is a beautiful thing.
Jeff -
Actually yes - stop paying your bills. Not only that take out some loans and spend that money too. Give a portion of that money to your richest friends because it will trickle back to you.
NOW you are living like Pawlenty!
Actually, instead of “give a portion of that money to your richest friends”, it would be “don’t ask for more money from your richest friends”. We can still discuss the merits, but I just wanted to ensure accuracy.
Since he (and the Republican Party at the federal level) has been giving tax breaks in the past years to the richest friends. Which is where my comment came from.
Just make your children pay your bills. Easy!
dtm you sound so cynical!
Don’t you trust Pawlenty?
I’ve tried pointing this out to my Republican family members, but their response is “HEY UR OBAMESSIAH IS DOING TEH SAME THING!@!”.
So it’s not a particularly persuasive argument. Sure, as a State we need a balanced budget. But to T-Paw’s fans this “paying it forward” is just the same thing the Fed is doing.
