Dear Friends,
I am excited to inform you that I am starting a new business venture, Madia Law LLC – a dynamic and aggressive law firm that will serve Minnesota’s consumers, small businesses, and immigrant communities…
…Madia Law will focus on consumer law, business litigation, and immigration law. Consumers have been defrauded by powerful interests with alarming regularity in recent times and I want to use law to help even the odds. Small businesses often need strong representation on a variety of issues but can’t afford massive litigation costs – I want to help. Finally, Madia Law will seek to represent underserved immigrant communities that need legal assistance in navigating complex immigration laws.
More information is available at the firm’s website. Best of luck to Ash in his new endeavor.

Ash becomes a lawyer, representing others.
Coleman become a lobbyist, representing himself.
Yup, seems about right.
Yeah, but will he fit the DEMOGRAPHICS of the area???
I think Coleman will fit the Sleazy Lobbyist demographic pretty well.
As for Madia, I don’t think his loss was because of race, if that’s what you’re getting at. Obama won the 3rd by six points while Madia was losing it by eight. I think white guy Franken got a lower share of the vote in the 3rd than Madia did, although I don’t know what the margin between him and Coleman was.
Madia wasn’t a good fit for the district because 1) nobody knew who he was, 2) his main resume point was his military service (residents of the 3rd are too upscale to send their kids into the military and couldn’t identify), and 3) Madia came off as kind of cold and humorless, while Paulsen came off as Bland but Friendly Soccer Dad.
That’s just my feeling, anyway.
Looks like Madia’s not running again. Just as well, he may have been earnest enough, but he wasn’t a good fit for the district.
Madia was well on his way to a win, when Bachmann Motormouth Overdrive called for the investigation of Un-Americans elected to the Senate and House.
Prior to that, the GOP was cancelling ad buys on TV, and looking to bolster Bachmann’s re-election. Afterwards, and looking at all the dough flowing to Campaign Tink, they changed their plans again and dumped a whole bunch of dough on Paulsen.
Meanwhile, groups that supported Madia, didn’t come through with some endgame help - a spending blitz. Apparently, when they saw the GOP cancelling ad buys for Paulsen, they thought Madia had it in the bag and spent their dough elsewhere.
Obviously, there were other factors too, but: IMNSHO, it was Bachmann Motormouth Overdrive that had more to do with Paulsen overcoming Madia at the end than any other factor.
Stu Rosenberg did a great job in difficult circumstances. It’s a shame Madia isn’t running again; tweak what worked and tweak what didn’t and he’d be in a great position to knock of Erik “The Hustler” Paulsen.
I wish Ash all the best. I have little doubt that he will be successful.
