An uninformed electorate votes Republican. Are people falling for Pawlenty always saying “no new taxes,” but that doesn’t mean he won’t increase existing taxes (and fees) or reduce existing tax benefits (like the renter’s rebate going from 19% to 15%)?
If we want our school system to compete with Alabama or Mississippi we need to cut the amount we spend on education in Minnesota. Just how much education do you think is required to live hand to mouth as a sharecropper?
Money doesn’t correlate to better education.
No, it pretty much does. Money can’t necessarily iron out demographic differences between districts (income, english as a second language) but less spending overall means worse education for everyone.
You clowns. He is copying the Democrats funding shift proposal word for word. Be hacks, go ahead but at least get the facts.
Wow. Wrong.
Note the at 1.7 billion or 1.77 billion of the unallotment is 63% or 66% being from k-12. Should a school district to get this from property taxes it and it passed to be added to next years taxes, they at least May of 2011 before they would see any of the new revenue flow. Just wait for the MN buget problems that TPAW has given us with the short falls still present for the next 2012-213 budget period!!
It is a delay of payments of $1.7 billion to K-12 education. He did not “cut” $1.7 billion from K-12 education.
He delays 1.7 billion JUST LIKE THE DEMOCRATS PROPOSED.
The shift never made it out of committee, retard.

Yep, Just like Wimpy. I’ll pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Go deal with it, schools. Get back to you later.
Lojasmo -
If you are into name calling shithead, read the House DFL education bill. They passed it off the House floor. Guess you’re not the only house staffer on this blog.
The Governor is doing the same shift that the House Democrats passed. I have difficulty understanding how a democrat blog can criticize Pawlenty for doing what democrats proposed.
Pawlenty needs to stop copying Democrat ideas like delaying payments to schools.
You guys must really hate Margaret Anderson Kelliher too. That rascal tried to do the exact same thing.
Democrats shift was smaller, nearly half the size, if I recall, and had REVENUE to pay it back. But no, i’m no fan of Kelliher
I hate to tell you guys, but this is the same shift as the DFL had in the last budget bill that passed.
