Michele Bachmann makes things difficult for reasonable* Republicans

Politico has a great article about House Minority Leader John Boehner’s struggle to keep his head above water amidst the building flood of crazy coming out of the conservative wing of his party:

Like a surfer riding the heavy waves before a hurricane, Boehner, a conservative with a penchant for compromise, has spent the past few months trying to harness the anger of the GOP base without allowing his conference to veer too far to the right.

A particular danger to the party, Politico writes, is our very own Congresswoman Michele Bachmann:
Sources say they have been especially wary of the possible damage inflicted on the party’s reputation by bomb-throwing Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), who last fall called for an investigation into whether members of Congress are “pro-America or anti-America.”
But Boehner is way too late. The Republican party is now completely under the influence of people like Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and “birther” leader Orly Taitz. Reasonable* Republicans like Boehner are a dying breed.

*The word “reasonable” here means only “reasonable compared to the lunatic fringe,” and not “reasonable by most standards of logic.” Boehner is, in fact, an extremist in his own right, and it’s a sad day when he’s considered one of the more reasonable Republicans in the House.

  • Who the hell is Orly Taits?

  • jeffie boy where are the resonalble statist supremacist oh I mean democrats on being reasonable you and they are so far left that you don’t know the difference between facist, socialist, satistist ect.and freedom. She is combating all those like you suppressfree speach free markets and freedom bah humbug to you and your big goverment types

  • Orly Taits is a leading spokesperson of the Republican Party on both legal and medical matters who has appeared on Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. She is known for her passionate support of basic Republican tenants and being a complete whackjob.

  • Yes, we need reasonable Democrats who will do things like

    - repeal the home mortgage interest deduction
    - support funding for ACORN
    - increase taxes on medical device manufactures (the f.u Minnesota bill)
    - or make movies about George Bush being assassinated.

    Yep…reasonable all right.

By the way…thank you to all those Democrats who killed the public option.

  • Jack “Handy”,

“By the way…thank you to all those Democrats who killed the public option.”

You wish the public option was dead, because it would benefit Republicans.

People who disagree with Republicans on issues are smarter than you might think, pally.

    • Regardless of your opinion about the public option, there is just no way the public option is going to pass. Now with 5 Democrats Senators coming out against it.

  • Michelle Bachmann was singled out on SNL last night. Not in a flattering way either.

    • DantheMan,

      Define “singled out”.

Tell us what was “not flattering.”

      • Define singled out:

There are 435 members of Congress. There were 5 of the 435 which SNL chose to actually all by name and imitate. When you are in the 1% of a group that is highlighted, then I’d say you are singled out.

        Not flattering:

SNL gave the Bachmann character the line which had fun with the fact that some Republicans still question if Obama is a President who has America’s best interests in mind. I don’t recall the exact line, but she definately portrayed the wingnuts of the party.

It was funny. I roll my eyes every time I see her on TV. I think SNL was appropriate to use her as a far right example.

    • SNL on a thursday?

  • Michele Bachmann has got to go! Democratic candidate Dr. Maureen Reed is running against her and she is the ticket to beating Bachmann’s craziness! You can learn more about Maureen, and donate, at:

  • By being featured on SNL Michele Bachmann has gone from fringe to main stream which shows she has a long career in comedy. Comedy Central can put her on the road and let her play comedy clubs across the U.S. I would also like to see her as a character on Reno 911.

  • Interesting that it took Boner this long to get a clue.

  • Michelle Bachmann is nuts and is hurting the conservative movement. Please defeat her.

  • Even Democrats agree that Michelle Bachmann is a God-fearing woman who best represents the ideal Republican politician. She devotes herself to Bible study to solve the difficult problems of this country like how cutting back on incandescent light-bulb usage threatens our Constitutional Freedoms. She fearlessly puts herself into the Congress to root the anti-American elements there. She speaks out and tells those who choose a gay lifestyle just what for. We need to look at Michelle Bachmann as the best person to defeat Amy Klobachar in the next Senate election. We desperately need more people like Michelle Bachmann in higher offices to save America from herself. I for one, welcome our Michelle Bachmann overlords.

    • There are many who agree with those sentiments, only they would not think you were being sarcastic.

Be careful, or you might find yourself elected Chair of the Republican Party

  • What a workload Michele Bachmann has. She runs circles around Tim Walz, who has triple the workload Bachmann has. I wonder how she does it???

    • Her inferior intellect.

    • Its’ easy when you have more PR people on staff trying to get you in the media than you have constituent services staff. I just hope and pray that her constituents never figure it out… she’s the gift that keeps on giving. While Minnesota gets embarrassed the Republicans look like complete fools having her as a spokesmodel.
