Our Soldiers Have Got Enough To Deal With Already

Like IEDs, prolonged absences from the people they love, the constant stress of working in actual war zones, rampant rumor mongering and complete untruths racing through the local population… they don’t need to deal with rumor mongering and complete untruths coming from the homefront.

I want to link to Hal Kimball over at Blue Man, ‘cause he can say it all better than I can, and with authority I can’t ever presume to have.

  • Hal Kimball is a good man. Thanks for linking to his post, Sean.

  • Hal’s right about this. There needs to be a whole lot more sunshine cast on what happened and why over at MPP last weekend. The story made me sick. The response from the author and the Blog may have been worse.

  • Its one thing for someone to post something stupid and offensive on a blog. Its another thing entirely when a member of the DFL state executive board accuses U.S. servicemen of rape based on a debunked urban myth and an old Hungarian porno film. Grace Kelly needs to resign from the board or be removed. Immediately. Her posts were removed from MPP, but the the rethugs have the screenshots saved.

  • From Hal's blog:

In order to be consistent, we need to scrutinize Grace Kelly just as much. Afterall, how can we hold anyone else accountable if we can't hold ourselves accountable.

Agreed. Wrong is wrong, no matter which side of the aisle does it.

And I was as outraged by what Kelly wrote, as I was about what Hansen wrote.

Kelly has apologized to me via phone, and has apologized to all via a post entitled "Mea Culpa." That's good enough for me. If it isn't good enough for others, well, I understand.

And I completely disagree with the decision to pull the posts; readers took time and effort to read the post and then comment. Pulling the posts essentially censored the commentators to the post; essentially wasted their time. The posts should have remained, so people could see what was written, what the comments were, and what the Mea Culpa was all about.

But, hey - I just post there.
