I understand there are those who oppose gay marriage, but to support overt discrimination against gays is just shocking. I can’t think of a single valid reason to ever support discrimination, in particular because this bill does not apply to religious organizations. It does not apply to any organization “that is exempt from the religious discrimination provisions of title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”
Our own Al Franken pointed out at a hearing last week that Minnesota is one of the states where workers are protected against discrimination, and after over 15 years, the sky has yet to fall. Watch his remarks below [via MN Independent]:

I have been discriminated against so many times for being gay, I have lost track. I have lost multiple jobs due to my sexual orientation. I have lost jobs for people thinking I have HIV. This has gone on for 13 years since I have moved to North Carolina. I have been out of work for five out of the last ten years. I do not know who I am anymore. I am so scared of losing my current job due to my sexual orientation and perceived HIV status. I am negative but some employers think otherwise. I work with young adults and so many people think you are a child molester if you are a gay male or you may turn the kids gay. If I get fired again, I will keep my head up high and go on! I wish they told me in college if you are gay you do not have the same opportunities as your straight peers. I am stuck with a loan I can never pay back because nobody will ever let me work.
How sad
I hope God truly does bless America on this issue and it no longer persists. Everyone has a right to exercise the creation of the Creator!!! I'm praying for you, Anonymous, and others facing similar plights. MAKE THIS CHANGE!!!
